The Best Real Bout for once and for all

this topìc has been forever agued before since some people prefer Real Bout Special while others prefer Real Bout 2 , with the first Real Bout being the less favourite.
i particulary liked the first Real Bout i tought the out of bonds was a nice addition and put some needed pressure on "turtle Shell" players that only dedicated themselves to block.
i also liked that this game was the last to have an story on it as the title says: Real Bout The Final Battle Geese Howard Must Go, and Terry's ending can be seen in Garou Mark of the Wolves opening

Real Bout Special was great but they took the back sway line off so it went back to the previous fatal furys with only 2 lines
also the game looks more like a world tour summer vacation K.O.F. tournament judging from the backgrounds

Real Bout 2 was a great improvement over RBS for me but some characters where weakened a lot (specially Mai)

so which do you think it's the Best of the Best Real Bout ? (no previous FF games only the RB series please) and why do you think it's the best and what do you think the others lacked or needed

I like RB2 the best, with RBS coming in a close 2nd.

I never really cared for the first one. The game feels a lot slower, and I thought the graphics and animation were the worst of the Real Bout series (not only that, but I felt they were a step down from FF3, which, granted, was/is spectacular).

Of course, a lot of this may have to do with the fact that I had been playing RBS a long time before I even touched the original Real Bout - I think this may account for a lot of the disappointment, and less than stellar feelings I have towards the game.

Perhaps if I had been playing RB since it was first released, I'd feel differently about it...

I disagree.

I really feel the whole presentation of FF3 is far superior to RBFF. Just in terms of graphics and animation alone, I think FF3 wins hands down (in fact, I think FF3 is the best looking of all 8 Fatal Fury games, with the possible exception of Garou: Mark of the Wolves).

In terms of gameplay, the argument could be made that RB plays better than FF3, but what I like about FF3 is that it plays differently than any other Fatal Fury game. It's unique, and a nice departure from the rest of the series.

Real Bout, to me, just feels somewhat... unfinished... incomplete..., especially when compared against the later entries in the series.

Sorry... but in my view, Real Bout is fun to pull out on occasion, but when I really want to play a Real Bout game, it's either RBS or RB2 for me! <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

FF3 has better presentation than RB ? where ? RB has at the very least the double of animation than FF 3 with the out of bonds animations , perfect animations , new moves animations and other stage interactive animations plusu in RB every character has new moves the very proof of this is ironically in RBS when you compare Blue Mary with EX-Blue Mary which was clearly based in the FF3 version of B. Mary and it's extremely lacking of movements. i'm not saying that FF3 is a poor game by any means but it can't be better than RB since it even lacked characters (no kim )

RBS is my fav by far. This was Mary's best showing. She got totally raped in RB2. Didn't care for the new oversway set-up in RB2 either. I put RB over RB2 just for being able to knock opponents off the screen (Still one of my fav FF aspects. How I miss it! <IMG SRC="smilies/crying.gif" border="0"> ).

I thought exactly like you did years ago but later come to realize she's just as powerful in RB2.Just harder to learn which I really liked! I used to side with RB but it's too slow,outdated and the ringouts punish the aggressive player.

hmm.....this is tuff. I always loved RB2 seeing how they had one of the best characters in SNK in there(Rick) and the cool Alfred. But the combo system is very different if your more of a player of RBS than RB2. characters dont get knocked down after the regular 3-hit combo every character has. Some lost combos and power(terry and joe) but some had new moves(terry, yamazaki, etc). Ill have to say RBS was the best. Its play is smoother than RB2. Plus i never liked the three-plane thing. I mean...it made no sense. i can deal with a two planes, but three is going to far. In FF3 and RB, i never used the front plane, only the nuertal and back plane. FF3 also didnt have that much of a combo system and RB was just like FF3: slow. The combos was great, but i really didnt like it(I think Mary is the best character in RB)

It's RB2 for me. The announcer is unfortunately not quite as talkative in RBS (at least he's still there, saying "GET in the Ring! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> ").

This one has more characters, although I wish they would've added more than just Rick & Xiangfei.

In the original RB, YOU can be the one getting ringed out if your opponent happens to pull off a throw at the right time- even if you've got them in the corner. <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0">

I liked all RB encarnations, but my favorite is the first RB. Why? Not sure, but here are my quick reasons:

-vastly diff (in positive way) than previous FFs & more playable IMO
-unique out of bound matches
-funny antics
-Geese finally croaked here--about time. RIP.
