Will this hook into a VGA monitor without an adapter or does it support another video output?

Dunno about video output for USA machine, but yeah basically A500 machines play all the good games, it probably has a 1mb in it, most seemed too.

You can forget a VGA monitor unless you use a scan doubler.

The Amiga is, generally speaking, a 15Khz RGB machine.

They did make a RGB to composite adaptor to use on a TV, it was called the A520.

You might able to find one on eBay if the machine doesn't have one with it.

Yarr, there's one on now

Like broken says tho, best Amiga experience is RGB, pick up a cheap monitor if you can, well worth it.

As for that game VT, no idea. The search for game info heaven is here http://hol.abime.net/3288

Aquablast? Weird, i remember that being called "Live And Let Die"... indeed a James Bond game.

Btw if you want SpyHunter-esque action, there's a great ripoff version called Major Motion.

Here's a link: http://hol.abime.net/2393/boxscan

Seriously, Amiga rules.

Is there a good a500 FAQ out there so I can learn what I can and can't run, do on this machine?

I'm fucking stoked.

Probably a good place to start is the Usenet FAQs for the Amiga.

http://www.faqs.org/faqs/amiga/

or the Wikipedia entry for Amiga

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga

Lots of info there. Should help you sort out the differences between the machines, the kickstart and Workbench versions. Also help you understand the difference between the 3 Amiga(Excluding ICS) chipsets: OCS, ECS and AGA.

Those sites should keep you busy for atleast a couple hours or more. :kekeke: :kekeke:

Anyone know where to get a good setup? I want one with the 1084/1084S monitor too! I really would like one to be at least an A500.

OCS - Original Chip set - A500, A2000, CDTV

ECS - Enhanced Chip set - A3000, A600, A500+
Allows up to 2meg of chip ram to be used

AGA - Advanced Graphics Architecture - A1200 and A4000
Allowed for more colours and higher resolutions.

If you are getting a regular A500, it will be an OCS chipset machine. If its an A500+ then it will be an ECS machines.

edit: the A1000 falls under ICS (Initial chipset) with only 256kilobytes of ram. There of course were hacks for this to upgrade this.

So in the end, is it better to get say an A600/A1200? Can those play all A500 games too?

if someone would tell me how to copy it from my amiga, I'd copy one for you... I have some amiga formatted disks (blanks), but I think I tossed the original workbench disks a few years ago before I knew shit about anything. :oh_no:

Well, I got this unit home finally.

I hooked it up via the mono vid jack to my tv and I've got the Kickstart/Workbench screen asking for v1.2.

Does anyone have a download site or copy of workbench 1.2 they could give me?

Anyways, It works, which is half the battle. Just a matter of picking up software. Got those collector chills/giddiness when I saw it boot up. Haven't been this excited by a collection piece in a long time.
