New copies going for up to $90 and used copies in the $50's?

I didn't realize this game was out of print and only when I started looking for a copy saw these prices. I use to own the game when it came out and I guess I should of held on to it.:tickled:

Nintendo continues to sell millions of DS units each year, you would think that they would keep their best games in circulation for the new owners.

News to me; I'm just glad I have a copy.

Still the best game ever, imo.

Hehe, maybe a tad of an over-statement but its definately a damn fine game :)

Anyone up for some games over Wi-Fi drop me a PM and I'll try and get on around the same time.

Yeah, I noticed this game was going for some money as well. I guess they did one relatively short print run. The DS has been around long enough now that it has a pretty large library and some games are getting hard to find.

I guess what surprises me is that this game was reviewed great and is considered one of the best games on the system. Not only that but Tetris in general is a pretty popular (well known) game. And when you are a company going after the casual gamer, Tetris is a perfect fit.

So, as Nintendo continues to sell millions of DS systems each year, I would think that they would keep their AAA games in production. Maybe even a greatest hits or something? (Even though I hate the box art of Greatest Hits games)

Maybe the game didn't sell that well or not well enough for Nintendo to bother with keeping it in print?

Oh well, I will borrow a copy from a friend until I run into a copy.

Yea, to be honest, I think some games fall through the cracks. Look at Castlevania Symphony of the Night for PS1, s great game with rave reviews and press, but try finding a copy just a year after release. I imagine in the hundreds of business decisions a game company goes through in a day, some games just get forgotten or left behind.

But it is odd it's fetching such a high price.

That is bloody amazing.

I have mine from around launch, fantastic title, pretty stable Wi-Fi games, especially on versus.

I need to find a better way to play the WiFi games without having to drive 8 miles to the nearest McDonald's though... the fluorescent lighting in that place hurts me eyes.

I remember some good times playing over Wi-Fi with you having to go to that McDonalds joint though! :) Don't be blaming your numerous losses on poor lighting hurting yours eyes now.. ;)

I'm practically a hermit.

I have no TV and no internet and no cable and no cell phone.

My phone is strictly for looking up arrival/departure times of airlines, and making blood donation appointments.

Helps me save what little money I make on the job.

Besides, I figure the restaurants and public Wi-Fi spots have far faster connection for free than anything I would pay for at home, if I wanted to.

Actually, most resturants you go to aren't going to shell out big bucks to get high bandwith connection. Just like you, they like saving money and cutting corners where they can. Add to that, you're sharing that signal with who knows how many other people who are eating up bandwith themselves. I dare say you would get a faster connection with any DSL or cable companies lowest speed package for your home. Your connection won't be blazing fast, but fast enough to get you running DS wifi.

But hey, I hear ya, free is good.:D

Wow! Amazing! News to me too. I would think of all games, this would be easy to get. Come to think of it, I've never seen it used, and it's not on store shelves anywhere either.

I have had it since launch too. One of the best games to play via WiFi connection. Tons of players always online, best competition. Extremely addicting - the power ups add to the fun.

Thanks for rubbing it in Greg.:tickled:

I even hit a couple lesser shopped places today with no luck. I guess people know it is worth money now, so the odds of running into a copy are pretty slim.

Like I said, I guess I will just borrow a copy until I find one again. Nintendo should really consider a greatest hits progam for the DS stuff though.

People are always looking for it at my store. I had one copy months ago and never realized it was such a big deal. Guy who bought it (for 20-30 bucks) probably cashed in on it. Sold another game the other day-billiards or some shit that the guy told me (after he bought it) that sells for double the price I sold it to him for. crazy.

I REALLY regret selling my copy. I read this thread and was surprised as anyone to learn it was going for so much. I actually just bought another copy last night before it skyrockets. Got mine on the bay for 42 dollars or so, shipped. Eh, what can you do? It is a fuckin GREAT game. Love the nintendo theme:buttrock:

Tetris on DS is one of those games I've bought but never got around to opening and playing! Now... how much you think it's worth? Don't think I'll sell, but you never know...

This is weird. As of right now, there are more than 50 on sale at ebay.de They range from around 20 Euros used to 37 Euros new. Which is not really a lot (at least for Europeans). If anyone is desperately looking for a copy, check there. If the necessity arises, I can buy one for you and ship it to the U.S. for no extra fees.

I haven't touched my copy of Tetris DS in over a year. It pretty much ended up boring the shit out of me.
.
Not sure where this surge of interest is coming from, but IMHO, the game is just not that great...I put way more time into Meteos.

I think what happens is they stop producing a game but continue to sell millions and millions of DS systems each year. So there are a number of new DS owners all of the time that are looking for the game. Also there are people that may have passed on it when it was originally released.

Nintendo really needs to make a few of their DS games Greatest Hits. I know that the covers always suck on these but there are missing some sales on the Advance Wars DS and Tetris DS for sure.

As for Tetris being good or not, I liked it but ended up selling my copy off. The online was pretty good as was the single card download feature.

Is this game back in print now? When I first read this thread I noticed that it was not on many store shelves, but recently I've seen it at a few stores. My local walmart has at least a dozen on the shelf.
