Terry Jones: Monty Python star dies aged 77

Monty Python star Terry Jones has died at the age of 77, his agent has said.

The Welsh comic actor, writer and director died on Monday after having lived with dementia since 2016.

A statement from his family said: "We are deeply saddened to have to announce the passing of beloved husband and father, Terry Jones."

Fellow Python Sir Michael Palin described Jones as "one of the funniest writer-performers of his generation".

He died with his wife Anna Soderstrom by his side after "a long, extremely brave but always good humoured battle with a rare form of dementia, FTD.

I remember when he was diagnosed back in 2015. It's softened the blow, knowing this was coming, but it's like when Richard Wright or George Harrison went. There's not just the one guy dead (or a living ghost, in Syd's case) too soon. The mortality of the rest of the group becomes real.

RIP Terry Jones, he was my favorite of the Pythons. Erik the Viking is one of my favorite movies (it's THE pillow!).

Damn, it sucks that I'm at the age now (42) that a lot of the celebs/musicians/artists I loved or looked up to are starting to pass away.
