Temporary screen distortion upon power up

Hi, i've had this problem for some time now.

It's not really more than a nuisance, because it corrects itself in about ten minutes, but basically what happens is the top portion of the screen is shaky and blurry, with the distorted portion going to the right (some blackness is present on the left side).

I notice that it gets worse/better when i rotate the AC adaptor jack plugged into the console itself.

I was thinking maybe i should re-solder the contacts leading to the power jack on the motherboard, but I wasn't sure. Maybe I should get a new power supply? I don't know though, since the game runs perfectly otherwise.

FYI, this is what i'm using:

JPN Neo Geo homesystem, low serial number, first gen.

I'm using RGB as well, I didn't do a modification to the system, but instead I made my own Neo -> Amiga RGB monitor cable without any ICs or chips and such.

When I initially switched from composite to RGB some years ago, this distortion problem never really occurred.

Any suggestions?

what type of tv or monitor are you using, does it have a horizontal hold adjustment.

I'm using an Amiga 1084 RGB monitor.

I beleive it does have an H-hold adjustment in the back, but is that really the problem? I imagine that if this were the problem it would stay blurry all the time, but it's typically completely gone within ten minutes.

Still annoying though, you know what I mean?

The "problem" is with the monitor, your neo is fine.

I have the same problem with my other, older tv (the neo is connected via rgb-scart)

I asked about it here and some of the techies answered me, can`t find the thread though.

the same type of distortion never happens with my Saturn connected to the same monitor in RGB.

Yes it is likely to be the problem, as the monitor warms up the values of certain critical components around the sync stage will vary slightly, this explains why the hold varies after warm up.
