It's because they try to hard ro infuse an anime aesthetic into all their samurai stuff.

That's fine and all, but it results in tropes that put me to sleep before I even experience them.

I saw a funny meme that I can't find anywhere.

It's the knight from Dark Souls 3 saying 'congratulations on your samurai game' to Jim from Ghost of Tsushima. Jin responds 'congratulations on your dark medieval fantasy game.'
