I'm a huge sucker for character interaction, so SvC fills that slot for me big time.

It's an overall fun game and I love playing it. There's nothing pioneering about it, but it's enjoyable to me.

thats a good point. i shouldnt call people fanboys for enjoying the game. if you like it you like it. maybe i expect more. the graffix should look good. i shouldnt have to shudder at the fact the game looks bad. i mean come on, they released it on a pcb board and it still looks like a cart game. when you release an arcade game, it should turn heads. but there is one thing i really like about the game, its the charater interaction. that is a good touch. just all in all, i think they (playmore) were hoping to bank off the forgiving neo-geo crowd, and in that, they succeeded.

I'm not sure if you realized this yet, but it seems that like you dislike the neo hardware more so than you dislike this game. If this is true, and no offense intended, why are you posting in a neo geo forum? I could understand if you didn't like the game for the obvious downfalls such as the slightly lacking backgrounds or the sometimes-off hit detection, but because the neo hardware isn't a head turner?? I think the fact that a game can look (and play) as good as SvC on hardware developed in 1989 is incredible. If you are going for graphics, go pop a quarter in your favorite 3D button masher. If you are going for game play, you shouldn't be all too concerned over graphics. Oh yeah, just one more thing? If SvC wasn't a head turner, you wouldn't have put your quarter in the machine in the first place.......Reflect on that.

hey buddy, 1st off, dont analyze me... 2nd i like the neo-geo. kof 98 is one of my most favorite games of all time and i cant get enough super dodge ball. and i really want to play samsho 5, but a game with the calliber of snkvcap, especially since it was released on a pcb board, should have been better. im not blinded by the hype. and it really pisses me off that it looks so old. i mean, last blade was a great game, looks and everything. i love the neo-geo, but because of the dated hardware, is a big reason snk went out of buisness. playmore needs to release games on a better board. the reason why i even played it was curiousity. i read about the game when i first signed on n-g.com over a year ago. and by the way, i know a local arcade owner who has the game, so i got to play the game for free... reflect on that

The standalone PCB was only because of piracy issues, SNK NEVER stated that this game was to be released in a seperate PCB to improve the graphics over standard MVS hardware.

Doing so would have turned the AES release into a "inferior port", and no one wants that.

Anyway, the game is selling pretty good... so...

i understand piracy issues, all i am saying is a big game needs to be bigger and better than anything before it to be a great game. snkcap is a step backwards. i hope, if they make a sequel, to make the game great.

You still don't get it, do you? SvC isn't a step backwords, BECAUSE IT'S NOT A SEQUEL. If you are looking for Capcom vs SNK 3, or some new and exciting technology, go check out another forum for the time being. I'm not trying to judge you as a person, but I am judging the content of your posts. I'm not saying that you are wrong in wanting something more, it's just that the neo is already pushed to it's limits (708Megs). If they had developed this game on new hardware, I would be asking the same questions you are. I just think you were confused as to the pcb just being the same old MVS hardware (just with the game being built into it instead of removable cartridges). Nothing new, nothing too exciting, but a damn fun game to say the least.

This game doesn't suck. I've been having a blast with this thing all week. I have noticed some hit detection problems like everyone else, but the AI will miss all the same. Just learn it and work around it. Every time a fighting game comes out so many people say its not as good as Mark of the Wolves. So if it doesn't meet MotW standards it sucks? Can someone explain this to me?

I guess maybe ignorance is bliss, because I haven't played many fighting games on the Neo, so maybe my experience with SvC isn't ruined by previous titles, or just from playing too many fighting games period. I'm having ZERO problems with the controls, I'm pulling off all the moves with great ease. I'm loving the graphics, I think its amazing that people can even compare it graphically to modern fighters. So what if it's not as beautiful as GGXX....this hardware is 13 years old! It's like you have to point this out to the point of redundance and people still don't get it. The hardware isn't going to get better, the machine is at its wits end at 708 megs, just have fun with it. Don't let a better game ruin your fun, do you let your favorite Movie ruin all other movies you watch? Are all movies that don't meet your favorite movies' standards horrible broken movies?

I think you are misunderstanding him. Compared to the look of Svc: Chaos to Last Blade 2, the game looks old-er. I didn't want a Cap/SNK 3 but I did want a SNKP game that would blow my fucking mind. NO REUSED Sprites, even animation, the classic "Bright and Clean" look of many Neo-Geo titles, etc... Comparing Sam Sho 5 and Kof 2k3, Snk: Chaos really looks like a game that been slapped together.

On the PCB issue, I think just for SNK: Chaos, SNKP should have made the game only on a PCB that was loosley based on the MVS hardware but give it some more memory, RAM, or something. Something more so the Backgrounds could have looked GREAT, and the animation would be consistant lik MOTW, or music that would knock your socks off.

The game's ok but I just wanted a more finished product. I'll wait for the bare cart to be in the $60 range so I don't feel that I got ripped off by Playmore. (like many Metal Slug 4 owners felt)

Games don't have to be at a mark of the wolves standard to be great or fun. Example: Right now my favorite SNKP is Matrimelee. This games has a clean look and feel to it. Some hit dection problems but Matrimelee has great music and very consistant animation. What it all comes right down to it is that i don't have fun with SNK/CAPCOM: Chaos. The game is boring to me. I have a blast with Matrimelee. If a game is not fun then I don't play it, thats all.:)

SNK was the victim of poor business management (i.e. sinking R&D money into ill-fated projects like the Hyper64 system); it had nothing to do with ‘dated MVS hardware.’

The sad thing is, SNK was also sitting on too much merchandise back in the day. They once had an over-abundance of Neo-Geo systems and cartridges that nobody wanted; it all sat in a warehouse collecting dust while they (SNK) lost money on it. Oh no, SNK was a victim of itself – it had nothing to do with the Neo-Geo AES / MVS system being dated. In fact, the Neo-Geo was still considered a top-tier system when most of SNK’s woes began back in the mid-1990s.

I really hate to say it, but you have your facts a bit mixed up in regards to this argument.

The only good thing with the graphics is the backgrounds.

They could have done alot better with caracters graphics and animations.

Bah stop whining on how you expect the game to be and how you think the graphics could've been better.

The game's been released and some like it, some don't.

You like it, play it.
You don't like it, don't play it.

Simple as that.

I love it and I'll play it alot till I eventually tire myself^^
