the only redeeming quality to this game is thats its different. other than that, the game sucks. now i know fanboys are going to defend it, no matter the truth. the game was dated the day it came out. it would have been good if it came out before cvs, but it didnt. sorry, but i am not as forgiving as a japanese gamer. i guess ill just stick with motm.

I may be a blind fanboy saying this, but I enjoy a great deal with this game. The next to last boss battle has got to be the coolest background/music/fight in a fighter in a LONG time. The heartbeat that starts before the fight, the lighting, the background and what not. The game's not super, but it's got its moments. Period. I think everyone should play this for at least a few hours, if nothing more. I'm glad I'm getting it.

Not like that time would've been spent doing something constructive anyway...

And I happen to like the game -- A lot.

The engine is a bit broken, but after playing numerous 2-player matches, I've come to find it to be a very enjoyable and fun game to play.

It's certainly not the greatest and most refined game ever produced, but if I can sit down, play a friend for a few hours and be caught up in the heat of competition; then I'm satisfied.

And that's just what I've been doing.

It's strange that most of the positive arguments in favor of SvC have to do with it's asthetics . . . even though it's a Neo game.

Regardless, it's fun for casual, the quotes and vague semblance of a plot are a welcome addition, and the new sprites (Capcom's side especially) are always a nice treat. Unfortunately, the iffy physics and absolutely broken hitboxes and infinites bar it from any serious tourney play. More playtesting is what the doctor ordered, but eh. In summary; fun, yes, classic, definately not.

I love how when people bash something, they always start off or end with "now I know fanboys are going to defend it"..

Some people like it, some people don't. It's really that simple.

I really, really wanted to like it. I tried real hard, but after playing the computer and playing with other player, I just feel that this game is boring. IMHO, this game does not feel like a Neo-Geo game, more like a cheap knock off. I just wanted more.:(

I love SVC, it's my favorite game for the neo. The art is badass, the intro's are badass, everything is badass. I love the animation it has in the beginning, like a cartoon show.

Never said better ;)

He's right.
Just because someone likes it doesnt mean they must be a fanboy.
And if you hate it, then well that's your opinion... don't expect others to have the same too. :P

Fer me, I absolutely love this game ^^
Mainly cos of the new characters.

thats a good point. i shouldnt call people fanboys for enjoying the game. if you like it you like it. maybe i expect more. the graffix should look good. i shouldnt have to shudder at the fact the game looks bad. i mean come on, they released it on a pcb board and it still looks like a cart game. when you release an arcade game, it should turn heads. but there is one thing i really like about the game, its the charater interaction. that is a good touch. just all in all, i think they (playmore) were hoping to bank off the forgiving neo-geo crowd, and in that, they succeeded.

I myself am better at fast paced fighters like Guilty Gear X2, Last Blade 2, and Matrimelee (and to an extent, MOTW).

However, i truly love Chaos just because it feels like the fighters i grew up with with new features to make it brutally fun.

Are the exceeds cheap? Hell yes

Is the game broken? Well yea, the goddamn hit boxes are
terrible in places and geese and zero have their infinites.

Is it fun? Fuck yes. it might be clunky at times, but you learn the game and it just becomes such a mind game rather than a crazy button masher like matrimelee.

its just a damn good game.

Just so you know, SvC IS still on MVS format.

The PCB wasn't an upgrade.

Yeah, 'cause everyone knows that gameplay and graphics are totally mutually exclusive. But lets not try to leave the scope of the arguments at hand.

I felt that it should have been an upgrade. SNKP should have went with a more powerful system ( or stand alone PCB) for just SNK/CAP: CHAOS and ignored the MVS/AES. Those same fans would have bought the ports if that was your only choice to play it at home. I don't really like the game, but I will probably buy it in the future after Matrimelee, Metal Slug 5, Sam Sho 0/5, KOF 2k2 & 2k3 and a buch other MVS games that is catching my eye. I'll buy the port and if I learn to like, then maybe the MVS version. For the big question for me is, "Why limit your most anticipated game ever on an aging 13 year old hardware?"

i agree, capcom would be a really shitty co. if they stuck with the cps format. instead they upgraded to cps II and then eventually the naomi. im sorry, not only does project justice look good, its too goddamn fun. that is a great game.

Yes the game is behind by today's standards and was poorly put together but I have way more fun with Chaos. CVS2 puts the SNK characters to shame. Iori in that game is just plain retarded. If PLaymore would have kept the game in production for a month or two more and tested the bosses for cheapness this game would own.

i keep hearing that it should have been put on new hardware, yet chaos looks 10x better than the shit that was in CvSNK 2.

god that game looks like ass

i dont own a neo, id like one but it is too expensive. However, the look of neo games is something i enjoy, mostly because i know how good a game i am in for.

How is exceed cheap? o_O

You only get to do it like once per match, miss it then thats too bad...
And your opponent can do one too...

It sucks 50% of the lifebar...

If thats cheap then I'll consider SDMs in KOF cheap too...
cos it sucks like 50% of your health too...

Ok so exceeds don't need a stock... but you have to be in red life and can only be done once...
So there's a balance...

I think it's just a bitch when your opponent does the exceed to you... It's not cheap :P

the only problem with that though, a month would have done nothing for the game, the game was in devolpment for 3 years!!! and thats the best they came up with.

Even though the game has its flaws with overpowered characters and some collision detection problems, i still find it fun to play. This is playmore's 1st attempt at a game that involves capcom characters.Decent attempt at that.Maybe they could create a much better sequel like what capcom did with CvS2.
Capcom also started out weak with CvS1 in the gameplay area and they improved with CvS2 despite that game having some dominant characters.

Great game, better than most Capcom fighters, not as good as... Arc System Works' Guilty Gear XX or most King of Fighters games, still, REALLY entertaining.

Refreshing.

The characters are good, so is the animation. The music is amazing.

The dialogues are great as well

There isn't too much, story, I would say this game was definatly made for versus matches, just to have fun.

Here's what SNK could have done to make SvC good:

1.) Remove GCFS, or modify it in some way (remove the invincible frames or the ability to cancel it, or maybe even both).

2.) Remove the hidden characters (the majority of them are gayly overpowered by nature, but to be totally honest, I just don't trust SNK to tweak them properly, so just take them out).

3.) Tweak the rest of the cast (specifically Chun-Li).

Voila. May not have made the game more interesting, but it would have at least been playable. For now, it's only good for shits and giggles.

What I find most depressing about this game is that SS5 is looking good and KOF 2003 seems to be shaping up nicely as well. Obviously Playmore needed some test subjects before they got a handle on fighting games in general. It's a shame that SvC had to be a guinea pig...
