svc chaos mvs-help again!

alright, thanks to you who already tried to help me. when i hold the start button and attempt to put in these codes(to unlock extra char.) it just goes into random select mode.
What am i doing wrong?
Also, is there a way to unlock the extra char. in samurai shodown v?

Ps. just cuz im new at this, dont think you can beat me
after years of longing i finally bought a mvs!

If you mean that when you begin holding down the Start button, the characters start cycling randomly, don't worry cuz that's supposed to happen...once you correctly enter the code for the character you want and press a button, the appropriate character should show up

Also, is there a way to unlock the extra char. in samurai shodown v?
