So I think I'm going back to maining Ibuki. I finally got my timing down on her kunai throw in the air and her neck breaker, and I love how her neck breaker EX can pass through projectiles. Its helped me develop a good strategy and fight smarter. The one problem I'm having though is against Juri players. It just seems like I'm not fast enough to get any good attacks in, and I'm having a hard time defending against her kick attacks as well. Anyone got any tips?

On a side note, I got up to four ranked wins in a row, but that magical fifth win still eludes me. I also finally ranked up to D+. I know these are really no big deal, but being an amateur SF player, this is a big personal accomplishment for me. :D

DeeJay is love hate right now. I can't figure out the right way to play him. I keep trying to do ST stuff and it doesn't work. He's going to need a lot of studying. Bison and Hawk and going to be my mains with 'Rog just being my chump stuffer.

Do you guys chat on PS3? Or do you just play silent and message one another? Should I go invest in a bluetooth or a camera? Wouldn't be the same if we couldn't talk as we play.

I play quiet. I don't play squad-based shooters or anything online, and I don't need a bluetooth headset otherwise, so I never wound up buying one.

DeeJay is lots of fun, I play him like an aggressive Guile...which doesn't always work :tickled: I always forget that in ssf4 his anti-air charge kick has absolutely no range.

Ninny, you use any usb mic. In case you want to spam and don't wanna buy a bluetooth.

You're definitely not the only one...Dee-Jay feels really, really weird in this game. His physics and timing are VERY different from ST. Crossover flying forward is solid, but so many other things with him are just weird. His rising kick (charge D,U+K) usually whiffs as anti-air off the ground. Kinda unsatisfied with him, but I'm having so much fun with Guy and Juri that I can be hardly arsed to care.

I am having the same DeeJay issues.

He was one of my favs in ST and HD Remix and even Xmode Alpha 3 version.

His rising kick is too funky for me now.

Falling back to Guile for main and then Ken(gotta represent Karate)

Probably will try some others too.

Yuckmud-I got the SE stick for $50 at gamestop and will be buying some parts soon to mod mine.

Yeah, I'm just not feeling DeeJay in this game. He's my favorite ST character, but he feels completely different now. His slide is almost worthless from what I can tell.

It's alpha 3 V-ims DJ, just use that game set and you'll feel way more comfortable. Trying to play DJ like is ST is only gonna get you frustrated, his timing is too different to use him that way.

What's exciting is that you can learn new things with a real cool character. His walk timing is very new and so are his animations, which are cool but make him seem a bit less intimidating than he used to, 'cause that grin was diabolical in ST.

Well that doesn't help me at all :lolz:

I need Guile strats. LWK, I've tried playing defensively....but know of nothing to counter his "air dive" into throw or slice. Upper cuts take damage, flash kicks don't connect and I get chipped to death. :(

Also, yuckmud, I'm going to upload a picture this evening that might make you freak out. We have the same stick, gaming setup, keyboard and color desk.

Keep dashing away. I suggest dashing forward or back.

I need to test it extensively. I don't know how much more buff he got from IV..

So I've finally got round to playing it, and I'm finding quite enjoyable and far less annoying than the original SF4. T. Hawk & Dudley FTW!!!

My PS3 import version of the game came today. I got the collector's edition.

Wow. Now THAT is a collector's edition.

Comes with the game (of course), a CD with all the character themes (all 35 characters), a DVD with all the commercials and a bunch of other videos and an art book with the character portraits. All in a silver box. VERY nice.

Some things to note:

My SSF IV import file did not interact with my domestic SF IV file. No costumes or colors unlock. Since I paid money for the SF IV downloads, I decided to keep my domestic purchase and will play that. It's okay, I really only bought the special edition for the nifty extras so I'm satisfied:)

Looking forward to playing some matches with you fine peeps as soon as I get a free chance to.

Yeah, I saw it. May have to try them out just to see the new costumes that won't be available over here for a while. I believe it's Gen, Guile, Fei Long and a couple of other characters.

I'm using Ibuki and Makoto more now. They've been my favorites in this. :)

Still been using Bison. I really love hitting people with the Psycho Abortion when their in the corner. It almost always crosses up on people making it impossible to block unless they jump in time. I LOVE using it on Ryu and Ken Flowcharters. I had a string of four people in a row using Ken/Ryu and one guy would only jump and attack, and if I got close he'd try to hit me with a DP. Every time I had enough meeter for the Ultra, I'd just get in range for them to use a fireball, jump over em' and hit em' with the Ultra. :lolz:

I want to try to use some of the new blood in the game. It's odd, they upgrade the game with ten new characters and all I use is a character from the arcade game. I'm thinking about using more Cody, but a lot of people use him online. I played against only a few Hakan players and I just need to figure out how to keep oiled up and land my throws. I think with practice he could be a beast.

WTF is up with all the pissy rage quitters on XBL? I fought some guy on Live yesterday afternoon talking all this shit about how he's a "tournament fighter" and trying to be Billy Badass with Akuma. I trashed his Akuma with my Ibuki and he starts throwing the typical insults heard on live, and just when the KO was about to register, he quits, and fucks out of moving up to C rank, and then sends me a message making fun of me about it. I swear, it really ruins the game for me when pepole do that stupid shit. Too many punk kids spending hours upon hours on this game thinking they're going to be the next Daigo or Justin Wong.

Same as it ever was. Simple fact is, unless you're one of these possessed freaks who has eight hours a day to blow on this game, you're probably not going to be a recognized tournament legend. Besides, it's not like any of those people get to retire rich from SF. It's just a fucking game, and you have to enjoy it as such.

And that's why we do Arcade Hunters. I hate these people. You know damn well they wouldn't pull that shit if they played against a flesh and blood person next to them. Most of them wouldn't even set foot into an arcade, they much rather just act like e-thugs and curse you out and pull the plug on you rather then admit a loss. Thankfully I haven't had a ragequitter yet, but I had some guy pull out on me because he also picked Bison. :spock: I always like a character vs character battle, guess this guy doesn't.

I'm playing smart this time. I just plug my mic in, shut off the sound and speaker and set it on the floor so I don't have to hear them cry when I kick their ass, or vice versa. The only thing I really have to worry about is getting a PM from them after a game.

That's why I only play with people I know and people that they know and trust. I don't need grief from people I've never even seen before.

Sorry I haven't been online much playing with you guys. I started classes this week and the adjustment of getting up at 6am and not being able to go back to sleep is kicking my ass. I'm lucky if I can stay awake past 11pm now, lol. I'm off on Fridays and weeknds, so I'll still be on then.

On a side note, is there a way to create a private ranked match with friends, versus random people online? My friends and I are looking for an easy way to get the online based achievements without having to put up with rage quitters and lag killers.
