There doesn't seem to be any rule preventing members publicly posting private messages.

If there is a rule regarding this, please tell 68k about it mods. He seems to be a little confused over what the p in pm means.

oh, gimme a custom rank too ;)

Shouldn't this argument take place in private messages?

LOL, Lovergoat is such a pussy.

If you send a message to someone, they can do whatever they want with it. Remember that before writing your gay love letters to other members of the forums, and have a nice day. :D

The rule you are looking for is called the rule of thumb. Don't send threats or pussy make up messages via the PM system. They will come back to mother fucking haunt your ass.

Tried it in chat, tried it on the forums. Thought I'd try a PM. I still dunno what the guys problem is. I have a low post count, don't have much time to post and am only here for the games. These guys who come for the drama are annoying but have ignored them until i was singled out for bannage.

My point exactly. I'm duller than dull. Think it's my right as a nOOb to be left out of the over posting asses drama. I just trade and chat a little. Have even helped people out a bit.

I'm dull and shit, leave me to be dull please attention whores(aimed at the world in general).

I seriously don't know what your problem is. I've had no problem with you and we have never exchanged heated words. You must have me confused with someone else.

I went into chat, only to have you immediately start insulting me.

Don't start playing a violin now. You take things *way* too seriously and overreact and go on a bitching spree.

Pop a midol and lie down.

I don't fully agree with that but it would not be possible to prevent users from publicly posting PMs anyway, at least not technically. I mean, cut-and-paste text is cut-and-paste text, no matter where its from, be it a webpage, email or PM.

As for a rule, well, not sure if we really need something like that, there has not been too much abuse with PMs in the past so a new rule does not seem justified.

Well, for example... if you send a letter to someone, doesn't it become the recipient's property, therefore allowing them to show it or give it to whomever they want?

I agree with you on this.

I would guess that Shawn could make a rule that PM's could not be posted but I don't know why he or another mod would want to do that.

Think of all the bad transactions that end up in the feedback section that depend on PM's to establish what happened. It would be stupid to have to ask for permission to post a PM that you received.

Don't send a PM if you don't want anyone else to read it. Pretty simple really.

Of course it would legal to do so but would it be legitimate? People send letters in sealed envelopes for a reason, they only want the recipient to read them, otherwise they could have sent a postcard, or, in case of a bbs like ng.com, made a public post instead of a PM.

It's cool if you show a letter to someone you fully trust or who knows the sender (the ng.com equivalent to that would be forwarding the PM to another member you are friends with) but posting the contents of a PM does not fall under this category, that's like nailing a letter to a tree in a crowded street for everyone to see which most people probably would consider very rude or even a breach of privacy and trust.

IMO, etc.

Imo his beef should be with the guy who he sent that pm to and shared it with everyone. But thats rational thinking :/

Of course it is a breach of privacy and trust. But since any posted PM is going to be about a deal that went bad or two people who don't like each other, how much privacy or trust should the sender expect? None IMO.

If someone sends a normal PM to someone, why would they post it? Who is going to want to read it? No one.

I understand what you are saying but you really have to look at why someone would post a PM. (Since it rarely happens)
