Ever since that Genesis game, Xeno Crisis, was ported to the Neo, it really opened the floodgates for any indie dev to make a game for any old console and arbitrarily give it a Neo release as well.

Nice, has elements from Caliber 50 and stuff, I like what I see so far. Also has a bit of humour Metal Dragon-stye which is always welcome on my end. I think it has potential, in both ways.

"Retro Sumus", eh... laaa deee daaa, ain't we great. Let's see what happens with the campaign, 28 days to go, halfway there money-wise.

I'm starting to think that these so-called "devs" are just producing Neo versions to pay for their work. There's no fucking way this shit is worth $500. Buy some cheap and nasty PCB's from China with a mini-SD card reader built in, encase it in $30 worth of plastic and a $1.50 paper insert...

I think people forget one of the reasons AES carts were so expensive back in the day was that RAM chips were really expensive. The "premium" factor doesn't play into it any more imo as the games can be perfectly emulated across any number of official and unofficial devices.

Can't believe that the Neo is going start becoming victim to what is tantamount to shovel-wear.

I understand it is a bit more expensive then a Genesis game. You have two PCB's more chips and more plastic but going from 70 dollar to 300 or 400 is a bit to much. I just received my copy of ZPF plastic is a cheap as fuck (hangtab broke during shipping.) and the cart label is matte and out of place on the Mega Drive. these "retro" publishers aren't even trying anymore. Last game I picked up was Xenocrisis. The difference with the genesis version was so underwhelming that I'm not doing a multiplatform again. If the genesis is the lead platform that is the one I will be buying.

None of these homebrew...NONE look like Neo Geo games. They look like cheap ports to cash in on a handful of Frenchies and retards. There's been a few that look the part because they started on Neo, but shit like this is just dumb.

But, then again, so are these new collectors looking for anything they can get their hands on. I don't understand it at all, but I'm clearly not the demo.

Go play Mars Matrix.

Out of all the recent Genesis homebrew releases, i honestly expected ZPF being ported to the Neo Geo, especially since Gryzor (the game's artist) previously did the artwork for Neo XYX.

ZPF would be a good candidate if the gfx were retouched to take full advantage of the Neo. Some of the stages look great while others, like the one they always show with the turtles in the background look garish and terrible.

For example, this stage. I don't understand what's going on there. Are those supposed to be rays of light? Why do they stop in the middle of the screen? If so, why not use the highlight/shadow option for them instead? Why does it look so bad compared to other stages?

You can count the number of 3D-gameplay indie titles for the DC on one hand, so I applaud the devs for putting out Xenocider. Iirc they did so with their own funding because their Kickstarter failed, and I don‘t believe it sold crazy numbers. It‘s still available on the Retro Sumus website anyways. So, it sucks to see this project with the 16-bit aesthetic. Not because I dislike it but because no one else is/was trying to make 3D games for DC. This game seems like a “safer” sell to rope in the rabid Genesis and deep-pocketed Neo fans.
