How about some action games "run and gun" like Elevator Action 2, Metal Slug X, Contra 3, etc.?

I used to run another Game of the Month thread that was for “any other game” besides the shmup. It lasted about 6 months with little participation. I am always happy to do it again if people want to play.

I did one a long time ago for Elevator Action Returns. Maybe just be selective and not necessarily make it monthly? I guess I could start one as a separate thing, but I don't want to step on anyone's toes here.

You wouldn’t be stepping on any toes here. I am happy to participate on action and puzzle games. Feel free to take the reigns if you want to get it going again.

Since this was bumped and another question was asked, how about Space Harrier or Night Striker or another variation of? I was thinking of putting them out there for January SOTM but decided not to, but I would be up for either of them if majority rules. I guess they are defined as rail shooters so definitely less traditional than what is played for SOTM.

What about like an Afterburner even?
