ZOMG bluray...

now I can see each hair follicle on Brad Pitt's head.

Who cares?

Not I.

The only reason most of you care is because the entertainment companies have spend millions upon millions of dollars on public relations and direct advertising to tell you that you care. LOL.

That’s not why but ok.

It’s only when it hits the mass does that apply, but more so it’s the effect of keeping up with everybody else and the pr advertising only instills the image in peoples minds. Most of the people on this site have niche personalities and buy it for personal reasons pertaining to other things.

Advertising in effect pits itself against the competition to sell the product. If there was only one player with a great product that everybody wanted to back there would be next to no advertising at all.

Actually one of the great things about high definition movies, is when done properly it can clear up a lot of the crap that shows up on regular DVD's.

I don't care about this because the studios said so, I care because I enjoy high quality picture.

The high definition films get closer to the director's original intent than any SD DVD can possibly do.

As for Blu-Ray selling 2 to 1 or 3 to 1 is a bit of a scam considering that when they are taking these figures into account, they are counting the free Blu-Ray movies that Sony is giving away as part of Blu-Ray Player purchases. So considering the numbers, I have a feeling the figures are about equal.

Honestly, I think DVD-quality is perfectly fine for a 27" screen. But when you get up to 50" or so, regular DVD's and normal cable looks like shit. The bigger screens that have become more commonplace give you more visual real estate, but they also magnify all the imperfections that aren't apparent on smaller screens.

LOL sounds like typical sony spin, you been reading PSM i see.

I haven't bought a PSM in nearly 6 or 7 years. That was a result of being bored out of my mind one day. EGM.

I have a 50" tv and regular composite cables... DVDs look just fine. In fact, watching DVDs off a rear projector on a big screen doesn't look bad either...

Maybe you want to say that when you sit a few feet in front of a big screen tv it looks like shit?

If you're listening to Bright Eyes, it's never cool.

I thought composite was fine myself till I saw HD DVD with HDMI.

It's far from being fine.

Are you kidding

you used to think it was fine

until you saw it in HDTV

that's like saying you used to think your car was fine,

until you drove a lamborghini.

I used to think beer was fine

until I went to Germany.

I used to think fruit of the loom was fine

until I tried on Calvin Klein

Well, it's all subjective, but to me watching an SD signal on a 50" TV looks rather poor.

i watch hundred mb downloads of friends episodes that i run on my pc and output the video on my 32 inch hdtv.

i could care less about blu ray or hddvd. i'd be too scared to ruin the drive playing video discs anyway, i have my game machines for games.

You know, I would say the same thing about all the examples you mentioned.

I don't know. Getting back on the subject.

Given the user base for the 360 in the US, i can see more PS3 Exclusives in Japan, become multi in the States. and with the success of Lost Planet and Dead Rising, I would say RE5 is a 360 game as well (i'm pretty sure it's already confirmed it's no ps3 exclusive).

Question is, are others like Sega, Konami, Square, and Bandai/Namco gonna follow the suit?

Sega is doing so with VF5.

There's a Rumor on MGS4 from Konami.

And I don't know if the sales went well for Square for it's MMORPG FFXI for them to consider a release on the 360.

Which leaves us with Bandai/Namco. They've left multi platforms to go exclusive (SC 2 to SC3). And are pretty much by the balls with Sony (Tekken Dark no PS2 release). I guess only time will tell whether we'll see their 3d Fighters on MS's console. But then again, Katamari is being worked on Live Arcade so who knows what other projects they have for the 360....

maybe they'll lower the price soon, it would definitely sell more ps3's. that and the release of some quality titles.
