The gofundme was shut down at the request of the Canadian government, under the claim this wasn't a protest but an insurrection, which is already overreaching bullshit of outlandish proportions. But then gofundme announced they weren't even going to return the donations, and were instead going to redistribute them to random "worthy causes" of their choice (they don't want to give up their cut of each donation). After that, there's been a bunch of legal wrangling and some judge somewhere has ruled they can't do that. I think the compromise reached is that people can request their donation back, but they only have 2 weeks to do so, after which gofundme keeps the money.

I could be reading the official document wrong, but they only have to quarantine if they have A - are untested but have symptoms or B - test positive and are symptomatic or asymptomatic. Only non-Canadians can be turned back at the border.
This isn't even close to accurate. GoFundMe said they would refund anyone who asked and donate the remainder to charities chosen by the Freedom Convoy. They never claimed to kill the fundraiser because of "insurrection." They killed it because of law enforcement's reports of violence at the convoy.
No, that's not what was originally decided. If it had been, the courts wouldn't have gotten involved. That may be the solution they've settled on now.
The problem that has led to court involvement is that funds are, bottom line, being withheld from the Freedom Rally, whether that's through refunds or distribution to other charities. It's not because GoFundMe chose to distribute the funds to their own choices of charities – a proposition that was never stated. I'm open to being wrong, but I've read every press release they've put out.
