Rob Python is awesome. He has the look and the hook. His upper cut and jabs aren't bad either.

Nah... Vanessa just looks good. She doesn't fight dirty like Python, beating the shit out of opponents while they're down.

Characters from King of Fighters just aren't strong enough to be taken seriously. I mean, a character, any character, can get their ass kicked by Bao, Chris, or Kensou, he's got problems.

Buriki One had no fluff characters. I'm not saying it's a better game, but the characters are a lot more serious.

Besides, Python has those tattoos.

It's Heavy D. Vanessa was cool because she had moves that referenced other fighters, but Heavy had incomparable style, was a very interesting fighter in '98 (powered-up unblockable into 2-stock SDM juggle, 7-jab combos, etc.), and he had "No Shirt!"

So? And "GO FOR BROKE!" was the continue screen message in Agressors of Dark Kombat before it was in Street Fighter Alpha 3, and and super moves/super meter were in AoF and SS while Capcom was still tooling around with the SF2 engine. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Can't believe I forgot Mickey. You have to give it up for him; he was such a wiseass. And his taunt was classic.

Heatblazer, you're right... to a certain degree... but "Number One" came even earlier then that. 1992 anyone? <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Balrog.

Oh, SNK. Heh, never mind then. Since I've only seen Heavy D! and Vanessa, I'll give no decision.

And who cares who came up with what first? For all we know, "Go for broke!" could've been first used by some obscure arcade platform game no one's heard of <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0">

If you're referring to the blabbermouth announcer in SFA3 (and pretty much every Capcom fighter after that), that whole bit was pretty blatantly stolen from Real Bout Special, the first fighting game to actually "talk" to you.

"Hey, how's it goin', dude! Now let's begin! Choose your favorite character!... Be tough, or be dead big guy."
