I just noticed the Alba Meira character who is earning all the hatorade had:

Wow, that kind of 2.5 year reign is usually a sign spamtardery.

I admit, I have a high post count - but at least I'm talking to someone other than myself here. This guy is talking to the fucking walls.

It sounds like we've found a serious candidate for being the new War Room Troll.

Anyone up for recruiting? Somehow it might be odd if I logged in just to ask him to join our War Room (only).

I couldn't agree more. The only "MAXIMUM IMPACT" in his life was discovering SNKPUSA's forums. I bet 85% of those forum members are his accounts. As soon as I seen the SNKPUSA forums and read some post, it felt as if I was getting de-educated.

Truth be told the 3D fighting games are usually very broken, because a newcomer can come and get lucky easily, however the Hyper games don't feel that way, they really have a balanced system, you can't just get lucky and win against Geese, unlike the Tekken bosses.

Samsho's are so beautifull, and specially the portrait art on them, I just wish that Wild ambition had that intro that the PSX has, other than that no complaints on the hyper at all, hell even the MI games are more entertaining than the pletora of 3D fighting games out there.

I have to give kuddos to Namco for constatntly trying to improve or innovate their 2 fighting franchises.

These guys are huge tools here talking about the prospect of a 3D Samurai Shodown and then talking shit about the Hyper games like they have a clue what the fuck they're talking about. Clearly they do not.

There were no Samurai Shodown games on the N64.
The hyper Sam Sho games were not a weak attempt at 3D. They kicked ass, and are still playable today. Tekken 3? I can only play that for 15 seconds before tossing the game out of my PSX. PFFFFT.

Granted the topic was from over 2 years ago, but seeing as traffic is pretty bad on the site, I can only imagine other innocent visitors like myself would be subjected to the idiocy inside.

SNKP needs more quality assurance - fix bugs in CFC, then clean up misinformation and moronisms on their boards. Fuckin' lay down some standards for god sakes.

I own a Neo but I also have ports, which I noticed you have a vendetta against.

But you're right about that, instead of buying ports that are readily available to the public and at a cheaper price, I should go and get a cabinet or supergun and buy the PCBs that were never meant for home use.

Stop treating the Neo like it's some holier-than-thou machine that gets desecrated everytime SNKP releases arcade-perfect ports that are, get this, making the games available to a bigger audience or giving people the chance to play games they wanted to but didn't want to spend the dough on a Neo.

I swear to god shorty, you're the most tightassed guy here.
LoneSage, I own a NEO and some key games I wanted for the system. However I am also a strong supporter of ports. You are right in that they allow more people to experience games that originated on the Neo. However people have every right to be frustrated when a game they highly respect, gets a crappy port. Only very few ports are arcade perfect. Most of the ports of Neo games range from mediocre to embarrasing.

I will give you an example. Let us take a look at SNK's recent NeoGeo Online collections on the PS2 in Japan. I first bought the Garou Densetsu Battle Archives Vol. 1. I was blown away at how well the games were emulated on this release. There is no sprite flicker, fantastic audio, and scan lines to create the best home console ports of Fatal Fury 1, 2, 3 and Special to date. You even get the NeoGeo AES intro and chime music as the games load. Just like on an AES system.

Now lets look at the KOF NESTs collection which was just released. On this disc SNK didn't do what they did with Garou Archives 1. Instead they dumped the damn PS2 ports of KOF 2000 and 2001 onto the release, and ported over the Dreamcast's King of Fighters 99 Evo. How can this be an authentic NeoGeo Collection release if the game on it has 3D backgrounds? Also the audio in each of these ports is muffled. In addition to this they crammed in a LAZY rom emulation of all 3 games(similar to Last Blade 1&2 release on PS2). The graphics have no scan lines, there is sprite flicker, and each game is devoid of the NeoAES intro.

When SNK pulls shit like this, I can fully understand where people are coming from when they ally themselves with the original NEO/MVS release above all ports.

NeoGeo games deserve better ports.

(For the Record: The Dreamcast releases of KOF2000, 2001, and 2002 are probobly the best home console conversions ever.)

Somewhere down the line, people stopped caring about the games and started getting anal on what system you play them on.

Has anyone tried reading through his fucking awful review of Fatal Fury Battle Archives vol.1?

Which kinda angered me a little but I will always cherish the unforgettable memories I had of standing infront of the SNK Cabinet with those multi colored buttons and the classic words that will always hit my heart with extreme joy. ( MVS ) - Level 4 - however once we all started getting the hang of it the store owner switched the dip switches on the original cabinet and turned it to level 8 ever since then we stopped playing it.

When I got to this point in the review I forced myself to stop, otherwise I would have climbed up the nearest multiple story building and hurled myself off of it. Granted I wanted to do so from the start of it.

My god, where do people like this come from? :oh_no:

games varied in quality from system to system.

Samurai Shodown III was great on the neo geo, but people who played it on the PSX would have nothing good to say about it. This hurts the reputation of the game, which has collateral effects on the game, community, etc. There has to be a standard for excellence, and if that standard is not met, then the product should be removed.

I'm not saying that the mere detriment of being less than the best should remove a game totally. For example, KoF 97 on the PSX may have been "okay" compared the Neo Geo version, it was still ported very well, adn for its time, one of the best ports hands down.

The problem with ports is when the bad ones smear the reputation of otherwise great games. Back in the '90s this was mostly the case. Now many ports are perfect.

I guess you're right when it comes to SSIII, my friends use to call it Samurai Slowdown III, and although the slowdown wasn't even an issue, it was more of a hughe frame cut than anything else, it destroyed the rep of the game tremendously.

I had the AES and kept telling the fuckos that SSIII is the most beautifull SS ever, but no one wanted to listen to me. Fuckos they didn't know any better, however ports are still a nice option for those less fortunate to own any Neo hardware.
