If they could fix the game's problems, I'd be with it. I always liked the look and the roster. It's got about 10 fewer characters than CvS2, but I thought the choices were more interesting.

I hate to be a jaded curmudgeon, but...It'll go the way of most of these modern collections - the community will enjoy it for a bit, but it won't attract any new interest after the first couple months on sale. I'm sure there will eventually be some sort of Limited Run physical release bullshit the goobs will slobber over and post about on instagram.
The FGC competitive scene has long since dedicated themselves to Fightcade for classic fighters and I don't see anyone paying to play online for something they can already play for free with a healthy amount of players already invested with solid netcode. Even the built-in training mode in Fightcade has a hit-box viewer these days.

The issue is a little deeper than spanking it to anime titties, and it's a disturbing trend in puritanical self censorship in order to appease the moral busybodies & the ones they profit by. It's a 2016 mindset and the market has moved past it. It's time for companies to dismiss the pearl clutching as well. Saying 'ok in Japan but not in America but we want to sell to both' is talking out of both sides of your face. Pick a lane.
I'd guess this is a Capcom initiative. SNK probably wants to broker a new long term partnership with Capcom and in order to do that, they have to be willing to roll modern Capcom style where it concerns their crossover products. SNK has, until this point, displayed an utter lack of regard for the moral panics we see in the west. Even City of the Wolves is leaning into it with B. Jenet, and KOF XIV and KOF XV both embraced that old school sexed up aesthetic.

That's all Capcom stuff, SNK had zero say in any of those ongoings.
There is obvious money on the table here and SNK is at least willing to play catch with Capcom in order to pick some of it up.
I don't think SNK really want to spend a whole lot of resources altering old stuff.
