With the amount of JAMMA boards and arcade systems out there, there's bound to be some games which fly under the radar, but were quality titles. Are there any games that you guys particularly enjoy that are "sleepers" so to speak? I was looking for an arcade only title that wouldn't break the bank recently, and I found one called "Susume! Mile Smile" made by a company called Fuuki. It looks really solid, and doesn't look to be well known by any means.

There was a game I used to play on MAME32 when I was a kid called "I'm Sorry!"

It appealed to me even then because if you die, as a death animation gag, sometimes it renders the player sprite into getting whipped by the NPC who killed you-- whose sprite will be wearing a leather bikini .

Another game that I discovered at too young of an age-- and enjoyed entirely too much-- was "CHILLER" , but I'm not sure if that's an obscure title, or a classic title . . . In any case I want a fucking machine of that in my sex dungeon when I grow up . . .

I wouldn't describe these titles as sleepers per se, but definitely cool / interesting arcade titles that not too many seem to know about.

Oh yeah, not that Miss World '96 or Fantasia are good games or anything, but I played the SHIT out of those when I was recovering from my initial addiction to amphetamines. There is an obscene amount of photos loaded in that thing. Something about it is just fucking awesome, mind you I LOVE PORN, but a dream item of mine is to have a decorative Miss World cabinet in my sexy jacuzzi mansion.

I've never seen even a photo of the "cabinet" that this game would have been in though. Anyone know if it had its own cabinet, or if it was just a board sold to some Chinese or Mexican village and put into some generic one in strip joints? What's the story behind this game?

Holy shit, gaming in korea is badass!

Shipping "electromechanical amusement machines" to the Saudi Arabia and Libya in the 80s. Now that's cool.

But where were the Miss World and Fantasia games shipped, and in what form do you think? That site says it probably wasn't in Korea, so I wonder if these things were ever in America.

If they made it here to the states, my guess would have been just as kits/boards destined for strip joints.

Edit: This indeed seems to have been the case. Quick check on arcade-museum had this:

“ There are 12 known instances of this machine owned by Miss World '96 collectors who are active members. Of these, 12 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.”

To answer the thread:

The main non-neo geo sleeper arcade title that I absolutely love is Daraku Tenshi/The Fallen Angels.

Oh man, talk about a sleeper title with a very interesting history. I saw Suruga-Ya had a board in stock a little while back, but I believe it sold. It was around 128,000 yen if I’m remembering right.

This looks pretty cool. Looks like an update to the old Ant Eater arcade game from the 80's

The art style reminds me of Neo Mr. Do

Here’s the cabinet and board for one of these games. The cab in the photo itself looks like a regular dynamo cab so it may just have been a conversion kit.

Game looks dope Digmac! I'd buy it haha.

Magical Cat Adventure feels like a solid 7/10 SNES game on a PCB, it's decently fun. Have never heard anyone talk about it. No idea about prices, never seen one:

Not trying to piss on your parade, but Fuuki (in my limited experience) makes hacks that are largely trash. Pretty sure they made Head Panic which can be had for $50 ish. It looks like a decent Bubble Bobble clone. It uses Bubble Bobble assets, and plays like 12 ounces of raw ass.

I do think Mille Miglia is good and inexpensive if you like overhead drivers.

Puzzle de Bowling is a banger, and on the rare occasion it pops up, it's usually cheap. (Puzzle Bobble on steroids, basically)

Most of those nudie games are dirt cheap these days. Supply (for most) is rather plentiful, and not a ton of demand

Is there anything that falls into this category better than Osman/Cannon Dancer? This game is fascinating, ultra detailed and completely bonkers... and let's not forget this is all an analogy for this Isuke (strider creator)'s experiences at CAPCOM. The whole thing is a personal analogy that only the author can fully make sense of, making this game an schizoid fever dream, even more with the wonky international translation (has anyone ever seen Osman in the wild?!?)

If anything approaches true artistic expression in gaming, this might be it.

I think Mitchell Corp. itself is a sleeper developer. Many good games, including stuff they didn't actually release (why the fuck was Mad Motor cancelled after location tests?).

EDIT: Those COMAD machines weren't rare to see in brazil in these kinds of establishments. Fun stuff for your usual drunken ass boomer to drop some coins into.

So I actually play this game a bit on my cab and thats what happens when you don't reach 80% of the picture uncovered before the timer runs out. It laughs really loud at you and then gives you... this.
more scary than the version that flips the picture to one of Pinhead from Hellraiser.

Yeah I will admit Hellraiser has never looked better than when compared to that

You’re good, dude. To me, Susume Mile Smile looked unique and fun, but I don’t have any experience with their games. We’ll see when my board comes in, lol.

I just got a Great 1000 Miles Rally Evolution Model in. Really solid isometric racer. I’ve been enjoying it.

It's so cool. It also starts playing a small loop of, like, fucking, La Bouche or something . One of versions of the game plays a loop of Move That Body by Look Twice, which is a 90s euro dance "cover" of "Let's All Chant" by the Michael Zager Band , both are really good songs

I haven't played any version that features the big momma though. Just Pinhead, and another with some scary but cool looking female demon

I will say Susume looks WAY better than the couple of their games I'd played. You'll have to let us know how it is!

Fuuki=Asura Blade & Asura Buster.
Those two good deeds, cancel out any of their other gaming gaffs imho.

@ BNiN— yo, the Fallen Angels is a tech demo at best. A shame it wasn’t ever finished before release. The Fallen Angels Final is slated to come out for EXa Arcadia; I hold out hope.

...my arcade sleepers, are any L/R stick controlled racer (think Drift Out: Hard Order, Backfire!, F1 pt 2 ((VideoSystem)),________
*played with an Arkanoid Spinner*
It adds a whole new life to tried and true favorites, playing them like R/C cars.
