I have no idea how to interpret the above. I enjoy my 1980's basic PC / internet / identity fraud knowledge.

It sounds like whatever the issue was is resolved and business as usual?

Pope sold him a laptop with identity theft prevention software installed, so he's all set.

a tiny phish caught me. I gave them one old and fake PII to catch them.

That worked.

Days later, I had to invoke legal to take down the very obvious phish, just as a precaution. Before closing. To protect everyones credit blah blah...

So... Mike, just email me dude. I am following legal protocol for this situation. Sadly. I know it's abnormal for me.

Aside from that mess I bought a great starter home.

Now I have to pack. Fuck.

This has been a hell of a ride lol.

So honest update:

Some things maybe for sale... after closing I will honor first come first serve.

I have 2 known outstanding brodeals for chips and MVS carts. Everything else, if available, has a queue. Most is off the table completely, but MVS will be back depending on closing costs.

Honestly sorry if I forgot anyone, just lmk.

Still behind on brodeals. About done with "life" and I'm really sorry.

I hit a point where, I had not taken a vacation from my day job due to lack of staffing.

I got my dream boss, and completed EMDR therapy, which threw me straight manic.

Thanks again everyone for the wellness checks and I'll have stuff priced and packed now that I'm done handling legal stuff a bit better.

Much better feeling today. Had to hammer out a lot of contracts.

I still have my back log and intend to ship tomorrow if I can sleep at all. Paxil withdrawl sucks but I'm getting there :/

Sorry for my rants.

Normies and PD's are still freaked out due to similar names in the family.

I finally received word I under went a 4 day targeted phish, hired by the wealthy owner, because he could not figure out who I was. Well, that's my guess on who hired this dick. Anyway:

That. shit. sucked.

Simulated spear phishing as a service is a thing now though apparently, saw a guy at GrrCon pitching it. That's why I went max panic. Dude did WAY too good simulating a bot :/

Geez, sounds like the seller is some sort of insane paranoid. I've never had to deal with that and hope I never do. When I sold my house I let the realtor and bank deal with all that shit since I'm lazy. :) Hang in there skate!

It seems the seller hired someone to phish me due to their wealth.

Sadly due to things mailed to me legally, I'm tied up over trival rom dump bullshit.

It'll be ok.

Again due to my profession, I would really prefer sex... contact me for any wellness checks.

I really am on paxil detox and this shit sucks.

Later boys.

Ack. Thanks.

All this crazy stuff was because this was a spear... that looked like a bot. Twitter just messed around too long I guess.

PM'ing brodeals.

FINALLY got the all clear from my work legal, all separate, etc etc.

Thanks LV... you've always been a real one.

With that settled, again, I may off a few things but still "on hold" till the move / balancing my budget.

Thankfully the seller hired a great realtor as well, and financed closing, so we are moving right along :)

All brodeals, EPROM burnings, etc. are caught up on. MVS lot sent to a good member here, and I passed along the dibs from all the members.

In the middle of packing, so I may pop up a couple things in ZDTF in the next few days. Otherwise, operation new house is in full effect for a couple months.

Long overdue update.

Seller had their estate sale, my new crib is empty, and we are planning renovations. Adulting like a boss.

Still a while until I actually vacate my rental... sadly. I'm quite excited to be getting a much larger arcade, guest bedrooms, etc. This is a big life change for me, going from a rental to owning my own place.

Regarding the paxil stuff I am leveled off, and not going to be on that drug again. Thankfully. I do still have therapists etc. but that's my private life, I only disclosed some of it for folks like Mike and LV to know I was OK and that it was actually me despite my state at the time. So I am doing much better; but if you ever have to detox off of paxil, maybe put your shit on airplane mode for a few days lol.

I appreciate your honesty, skate. Looking forward to pics of the updated game room, and hope everything goes well in the move and life.

I assume it is a loan against the 401k, so he has to pay it back with interest. Otherwise, cashing out early would not be wise.

It is actually a FHA withdraw. Don't have to pay it back. The "penalty" is not being able to contribute to my employer 401k (and thus, not receive my match percentage) for 6 months.

Aside from the contribution pause it's a taxed and penalized withdraw to the tune of ~30 percent in fees. So I get 7k for 10k withdraw for example. Worth it in my shoes right now, since it covers my entire down payment and leaves over half my (employer based) retirement account / 401K intact.

Never ending house adventures:

The appraisal got done "wrong" initially. Now that it's redone correctly, we should get a reasonable budget for the improvements and renovations we wanted to do. This was the best news of the past few weeks.

In other news, the stock market sucks, and my retirement company sent me 30% less money than I "ordered" for my withdraw. This is already accounting for penalties/fees as far as I know. The check got here today, a Saturday, so I have to wait till Monday to sort this out. The house is still "ours," but pending what I find out Monday, my down payment on my loan may not be as nice as I wanted.

If I get hosed Monday (i.e. if unforeseen circumstances or regulations caused the shortage in my FHA withdraw), I may have to sell some choice PCBs etc., because let's be real, a house is a lot more important than my game collection. I hope it does not come to this, but it might.

I have it budgeted out either way; we are very hopeful the retirement acct check shortage was an honest and reparable mistake. I did make sure the [remainder of the] money is still in the accounts that it was supposed to come out of.

Nothing is catastrophic, hopefully this is just documenting the adventure of buying a house for the 1st time, and all the ways other people can help you lose sleep even when your paperwork is in order.
