Didn't see a thread for this but uh yeah, so apparently this is really good. I've been watching gameplay and it looks like Bloober Team has done a hell of a job. Like most people I was skeptical when this was announced and even more skeptical when they showed gameplay footage focusing on combat and it made it seem like the game was going in the wrong direction. BT also has a somewhat spotty track record so that didn't help. But it seems like they really "get" Silent Hill and have done the original justice.

Though it does seem like it some technical issues regardless of platform, wonky frame rates and screen tearing etc. But I'm sure that'll get patched.

Yeah, I'm going to pick this up soon. I almost picked it up a few minutes ago, but didn't want to spend $70.00 yet. Hoping I can score a used one for $50.00 in a month or so. I decided to drop $20.00 on BombRush Cyberfunk instead, and will start that this weekend.

Been playing this since Sunday. I have no experience with the original, but this game is fantastic. Constant state of dread, fantastic world building. The enemy movements make my wifes skin crawl, and overall it's a great time. Haven't had any technical issues yet. Combat is not smooth and I get hit often, but I feel like that's deliberate and more a skill issue than game mechanics.

Really looking forward to this one! Picked up Final Fantasy XVI on Steam last month and plan on diving in when I finish that up (which is fucking excellent, btw).

Super bummed. Went to grab it on Steam and it's not functional on Steam Deck.

I am shocked that Bloober Team didn't fuck this up. The optimal version is 22% off at Green Man Gaming, which is tempting.

I pre-ordered the Deluxe edition on Steam and got to play it & beat it a few days early. A phenomenal game and is definitely Game of the Year in my book. Bloober went above and beyond with this remake. I hope they do more SH remakes. 👍

gameplay better, cutscenes worse, voice acting worse. Marias delivery on lines is horrible. Also why her head so fucking big. Some of the areas are a lot cooler though like the prison and hospital. Enemies going through doors and hiding too.

I'm not rushing to buy this because I already played the god damn game and SH2 is not one a game I was dying to play again. But I'm really glad the game seems to be great from reactions post release, because with the amount of fake outrage marketing this got onlinea I thought it was going to be 100% shit.

Might pick it up at a lower price to play later.

Give it a month or so. A bunch of Steam games have either unsupported or janky controls on a gamepad or conroller then it gets fixed and is fine. I assume Steam interacts similar to controllers and Steam Decks.

I'm hoping that's the case and not that it's just the graphics being too taxing on the Deck hardware.

This game gave me the heebie geebies when it was originally released. Can’t imagine it now with enhanced graphics.

I beat this last week. Started a new run and picked up the chainsaw. Will probably take a break for awhile. If you want to borrow the game I can swing it by this weekend. Definitely worth playing. Some parts have an abundance of enemies though. Game needed just a little less combat or slightly more ammo. I played on normal though. Easier might have actually been a more fun experience. Some of the puzzles make no sense either. You will likely need to look a few of those up.

I’m finally getting around to playing this a few months late. I have been on a bit of a Resident Evil kick the last few months, just finished up the RE4 remake, and the juxtaposition in combat between RE4 and SH2 is immense.

Having not played RE4 before but beating both remakes of 2 and 3, i was a bit disappointed with how action oriented it was, despite it being a great game. I don’t know, the ninja kicks and pile drivers really changed the entire vibe of the series, not to mention i never ran out of ammo.

But Silent Hill 2? This combat is absolutely brutal, there is such weight to the movements, not to mention the grunts and screams when stomping in a monsters head really make the combat much more visceral and realistic. Just got to the Hospital and pretty sure this is the most stressed out I’ve ever felt, filled with dread for the next section, while playing a video game.

I think the second part of the hospital is the most stressful and difficult part of the game. Best tip I can give is don't waste ammo. Only use it when you face 1+ enemies or a close quarters knife bitch.

Much, much better than I thought it would be. VA is all across the map, too much combat, but it somehow still all works. The message(s) are not lost anywhere. Bloober was never good at nuance before but they got it on this one IMO.

[I played it on PS5 prior to Pro patch, sounds like that's not very good PC ver not great either, c'mon guys]
