Hey guys!

I've been working pretty hard on putting this together for awhile. I think you guys will really like it.

It's a 20 Year Retrospective of Master artist Shinkiro. Love him or hate him he's a part of SNK/Neo Geo's history. (kind of like me)

It's really amazing to see Shinkiro's work assembled like this, growing, evolving, changing etc.

There is about 12 megs of photos, so if you have a older computer or a slow connection it might not work out so well for you.

Otherwise, take a load off, drink a beer and enjoy some goddamn great artwork.

I wrote and put this together with you homies especially in mind.

The picture with the caption (Bionic Commando Center) is actually Player 1 from Forgotten Warriors.

Still, cool collection. That 'ruru from SSII is just wow.

After all these years it's still strange to see him working for Capcom.

Why in the hell did Capcom not use his MvC3 covers for the US release?!?!

I had no idea he did the MvC3 art. His style changed quite a bit for it. It looks good.

I love his artwork for Neo Geo games. He's as much an iconic part of the Neo Geo as anything else. Just seeing his trademark style screams "Neo Geo!" to me. But I've never liked his CvS and other Capcom work done in his trademark style. Seeing Capcom characters in his style is jarring and odd.

This is great man, thanks. Shinkiro is a legend, I always loved his art from the neo geo days. It's good to see him working for capcom, but I prefer the original snk artwork from the 90's.

I kind of like shinkiro's work on capcom fighting jam.
Kind of understated and more simplistic compared to his other stuff.
Reminds me a little of his fatal fury character art.

Shinkiro is an outstanding artist and the "face" of the old SNK to me. He has a unique style, i always recognise his work immediately - even if it's not SNK related.

Good one, man. I love Shinkiro, he's SNK for me, ever was, ever will be (even though he works for Capcom now). A single one of his pencil strokes is ten times better than anything that SNK(P) came up with after he left... KoF2k1 chara pics or those ridiculously anaemic youngsters in 2k3? Not my world.

Although I have always loved the artwork from these games, I had never really paid much attention into who had done them. The guy is definitely a big part of the Neo's history.

You may want to change the link at the bottom for Capcom, as it curretly links to SNKPplaymore... unless that was deliberate.

As far as I know there hasn't been a book. I hope this retrospective inspires someone to take the time to print one, I think there would be definite demand.

I also hope Shinkiro-San finds the post and likes it. I think even he might get a bit nostalgic looking at them all like this.

and Yoji Shinkawa (Metal Gear Solid)

Because of their painterly, and handmade feel. (Basically work that I feel is good enough that you could hang it in any gallery/museum in the world)

Are there any other outstanding non CG artists that you feel deserve some recognition?

Good article, though I think you need to get relabel some things. I'm pretty sure Blue Mary/2000 Athena aren't in Capcom vs SNK, or Sakura in SvC Chaos.
