Another thing nobody knows here is this student's history.

Could be she was a trouble child with a history of biting, kicking, and fighting when the school resource officers tried to be more "gentle".

Also, a SRO is a sworn LEO, regularly employed by the local PD or Sheriff's office. They are not Rent-A-Cops, and have the full authority of local law on their side.

If they give you a lawful order, you comply.
Officers are not judges. They can't assess guilt or innocence, their job is to arrest you. Take your grievance to the proper channels.

Calm down, Fish.

PS: Thanks for consolizing my Atomiswave a few years ago. I was able to save at least $300 over Kennyboy thanks to that.

20 years in the iso cubes for the offender

Agent is promoted to regional prefect, awarded 100 pieces of silver and is allowed to meet within 25 paces of the emperor

.

So is the officer's history also worthy of discussion?

I don't know how things work where you live, but Sherrif's status as a "real cop" is also a bit iffy.

They serve no added value except to manage the jails (and apparently to run the schools as if they were jails).

I mean, cummon... What real cop is chosen by popular election? What real cop gets to decide who his "real cop" underlings are?

Now you're just being flat out ridiculous.

Jon

You should have seen the time I told a Sherrif's deputy that he wasn't a real cop and he should get back to running the jail.

He about blew his top.

Well, what I thought was ridiculous was you suggesting cops should be elected, not hired.

Would that honestly work any better? A bunch of politicians?

I wasn't suggesting that they should be elected.

Quite the opposite.

Go for it.
A 2005 excessive force complaint that wasn't acted upon until 2007, and a jury found in his favor, and a 2013 case where his investigation helped expel a gang member from a school, and the gang member is suing the district for "depriving him of his right to education".

He dindu nuffin, I'm sure.

We only have a few seconds of footage and a news report from a biased source. There's no telling what is being misrepresented or what is true.

She's a minor so we will likely never have the full story.

Look, Fish, I'm not sure why you're arguing with literally every person in this thread.

Take a look at what's happened: An officer used, possibly, excessive force to lawfully arrest someone...in full view of the media. You know exactly what's going to happen. He's probably going to lose his job, be sued, etc.

At the end of the day, you're getting exactly what you wanted.

Anything else is Monday morning quarterbacking at its best. Plenty of people around where I live like that...they're the same ones who feel "if only we'd build the Browns that stadium, they'd be Super Bowl champs."

I just think that it is fucked up that people think that someone deserves being handles so roughly for sitting still and refusing a "lawful" command.

And I find absurd this notion that there is no other choice but to send her ass over tea-kettle.

All three of the adults in that room FAILED.

Unless it is in the student's IEP to have a restraint protocol, you have no business laying hands on them.

No one was in imminent danger. She didn't rush the officer. She wasn't brandishing, or believed to have an object/weapon.

The adults FAILED at their job, to follow standard practices and resolve the situation peacefully.

***It should have never gotten to the point where an officer was called. ***

For mouthing off? That teacher and the principal too, are weaksauce. I've had 37" CRT televisions thrown at me, and caught like a medicine ball-breaking my clavicle. I've had a GOAT...yes, a petting zoo animal thrown at me- by ODD students.

Never once called police.

Managed my classroom like the professional I was trained to be.

1) if any of *your* school aged daughters were tiger-drivered into the floor, by a power lifter...your tune would be different. It's excessive force, straight up.

He hurled her across the room like a curling stone.

2) 10 will get you 20, that this officer had used excessive force before. I can't wait to hear more about this piece of trash.

3) My beef is with this individual specifically-not cops in general. I respect the police, and think they are under appreciated and under paid for the risks they take.

Thank you Wataru.

Remember, a second student also got arrested over the incident. Reportedly for speaking out.

We had officers intervene all the time at my H.S. - saw students get tackled at least once a week.

Problem is there's no respect for authority anymore. You guys will see the outcome.

Glad that little bitch was tossed.

"What if that was your daughter?"

My daughter wouldn't be in that situation in the first place. She's respectful.

Son or daughter, Cop dont have the right to put their hands on that person in that situation. Pretty much all parents have angel children according to their eyes...

Law Enforcement Officers do not follow IEPs.

When an officer places you under arrest, you do not:
1) Start punching him in the head as he tries to take your hand and lead you up from your chair
2) Kick your legs forward, fall backwards, and try to dead-weight yourself.

He didn't throw her to the ground, she did that all on her own. Watch the video.
He DID, however, drag her out of the chair, kicking and screaming, across the floor.

The biggest failure in this are the girl's parents.

So you are saying that there is no respect for authority as opposed to when you were in HS (and saw students get tackled at least once a week)?

Glad that little bitch was tossed.

A student was placed under arrest for refusing to leave her seat.
Do you think that is appropriate?

The scary thing is this cop is doing this in front of children, teachers, & cameras, can you imagine how he would be when he's alone.
