I just got a Shareware Quake disc off a friend, how the hell do I get the full version? Is it even possible? Does ID Software still sell the codes? Or is the full version not even on the disc?

Make sure you get the newest winQuake or glQuake front end. GlQuake should work on just about any machine. Doom will work on '98, but I suggest you get a windows front end for it. It'd probabaly work without one though. Wolfenstein is a crap shoot from my experience. I got it work with XP though. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I run Doom under Win98. All of the newer versions of the Doom games ship with the Doom 95 front end. Inside Doom 95 you can play any Doom game (Doom, Ultimate Doom, Final Doom) by simply selecting the appropriate IWAD (the main game data file) from the start window.

For example, I bought Doom II before Doom 95 was released. But I can still play it inside Doom 95 by copying the IWAD file (doom2.wad) to the /Program Files directory for Doom 95.

Doom 95 also allows 640 x 480 resolution and Doom, as old as it is, looks great in it.

As for your Quake error, what is it? Are you trying to run GL Quake? If so, your video card may be causing the problem if it doesn't have OpenGL support, like mine. However, there is an extremely easy fix, but it doesn't work for all hardware configurations. Simply find the opengl32.dll file (it should be in the root directory) and rename it.
