Guess it was asking too much for the developers not being idiots keen to drastically tamper w/ the Famicom protagonists' look from 1990.

That's the first thing that struck me when playing the demo. Why the decided to veer off into this goofy chibi art style is a choice I don't understand.

Any new art in Ninja Warriors or Wild Guns at least meshes with the aesthetic of the original, if you liked (or disliked) it you probably will feel the same way about the sequels. This is the exact opposite.

Yeah Wild Guns reloaded smokes the original. Ninja warriors re again does as well but the original is still worth playing.

The real problem is the enemy placement +input lag. There is hard and then there is just being a dick. Most of the enemy spawns are the latter.

You have to painstakingly kill each one. Sometimes you can't even hit them based on the angle you are at. Also whats up with playing simon says with the fire coming out or air on stage 2 or 5.

Whoever designed the controls for getting on platforms need to be erased. It is the opposite form every other game. Pressing jump lets you go, up goes up. This becomes a big fucking problem on the last boss +lag.

Also no ninja inventory unless you restart your game which if you're playing fresh tuff shit.

Game looks great but the controls are bad. A lot of input lag.

Quiting from game doesn't save but dying and quitting does.
According to this it's not input lag, but just part of the game to give it a weightier, more deliberate feel. I haven't played it yet so I don't know.

All of this, but especially the bolded bit. The game just feels mean. I beat it on normal, but I don't think I'd ever want to replay it. By far my least favorite of the Tengo Project games.
