Do you hate scammers? Sure, we all do.

Well here at neo-geo.com, as of today, new members will not be able to scam as easily as before. Now, only established members will be able to post new threads in the selling forum.

New members will need to spend some time on the boards, and get to know the members first.

Our intention is to cut down on scammers, of course. But you members have to keep in mind that we can't protect you completely, so read the stickied posts about scammers in the market section, and be careful.

Love,

Charlie

Good news. I was tired of reading "Welcome to the newest member XXX" and find his thread in the selling forums for big $$$ while wearing some huggies.

Anyway how does this work: members are prevented from posting in the market forums unless they fulfill certain condition? Or will the mods manually delete their threads?

ive dealt with a couple of members who had no posts.
of course they were buying from me so i guess that wouldn't matter much.
i think some folks register here to keep in touch with others or just lurk,
i have no problems with the policy though.

Sounds like a decent idea to me. Are there any hard and fast criteria for being able to sell, or is it strictly a judgement call?

it's automatic based on time spent here and posts accumulated.

Now, if we mods see you (some newb) spamming, you're toast. Simple as that.

Nice idea. But how long does someone have to be a member or how many posts before they can sell stuff?

actually, you'd be surprised. people can't just come here expecting to dump games or scam people and then leave. They have wait a while, rack up posts, and if it looks like they're spamming and disingenuous about it, bang, I toss them in the shithouse with "jpj"...

I think that's a good disincentive to come here if you don't have an interest in being part of the community.

Do you know that we only have 1000 some members that actually have over 100 posts?

You should probably post the new updated forum rules in at least one of the selling forums.

And is there anyway Punjabee can be locked out of threads that contain the words rap, hip, or hop? Damn that kid is annoying.

One thing I'd like to say to all those that think this is unfair.

Use of the Market Forums is a priviledge, not a right. You are on a privately owned but public website, so you have to respect the rules. People here need to have faith in the dealers they are working with and this is a good way to establish that at least in part.

It also is a nod to the community of Neo-Geo.com, where we hope people don't just come here to buy and sell and not participate. We have plenty of that already.

While I wish I could post, its one of those things that I was expecting for a while. It isnt going to hurt anyone by becoming active in the different discussions on the boards, and hopefully you see less 0 posters showing up.
