I've seen a decent priced Sega Model 2 cabinet in good nick, can this be converted to JAMMA and standard resolution so I could put my four slot in it?
Can anyone help?

In other words can a standard resolution game be played on a medium resolution monitor. I understand a high/med res game won't work properly on a low res but I can't find info whether it can or not the other way round.

It will work, but about as good as a medium res game runs on a low res monitor. If you're lucky, the monitor will have a cable to switch resolution. A Model 1 Virtua Fighter I converted had such a monitor.

I picked the machine up and its mint! The monitor is a
Nanao (spelling?) ms8-26SU which I believe according to a jap site is a dual monitor 15/24 hurrah! is this the same type on monitor your machine had and if so how did you change the res?

Solved my own problem, there was a small switch on the front of the monitor which switches between low and medium, I'm gonna have one cool Neo Cab just gotta rewire the loom to JAMMA:help:

Lucky you, nanano monitors are among the best in the world. I have an old virtua one cabinet that I rebuilt to jamma and I have to move a cable on the chassi card to switch between 15 and 25KHz, to change that I have to pull the monitor out. :P

Yeah I can see what you mean its easily the best monitor I've come across so far, this cabinet even has a demag button next to the test and service buttons :-)
Where did you find pinouts to convert to JAMMA or did you start from scratch?

Hey Riipps! You could start from scratch or you could of course just make a converter to plug the SEGA 56 pin connector into and then just plug in your jamma based boards in the other side. It’s an easy job requiring only a finger board and another 56 pin edge connector and of course the pin-outs to use for reference! The benefit this way is that if you plan on getting any other Sega boards be it system16, 24, Model x, you can just unplug the adapter and you're good to go!

And by the way, I concur on the Nanao topic, they are awesome monitors as far as feature set and reliability. I have a Nanao 29" probably very much the same as yours and its never batted an eyelid!!:buttrock:

I seperated all the small looms last night and I think it will be easier just to start over with a JAMMA connecter it looks pretty straight forward. Intend to only use my MVS/Naomi/CPS2 games with the cabinet so JAMMA will be the easiest way to do this :buttrock:

I've been thinking about what you say making an adapter but the Model 2 boards use loads of little pin connecters unlike the system 16 and 24 so unless you have assumed they are simular i'm confused?

Yeah, just like my model 1 board. Then we have the stereo audioamp board and everything. You could as well make an adapter for jamma -> model.
