I had no idea this came out today until I stumbled across a review on 1UP.com. Anyone pick it up? Sounds like it's quite a departure from the R and C series in a lot of ways, much of the game built around stealth mechanics and a much slower pace to the gameplay until you get Clank's weapons way powered up.

You do get to play as Ratchet, the Gadgebots, and Qwark, though, which sounds interesting enough to throw in a little variety.

I hardly play my handhelds anymore, and SAC is running the full $40 monty, but I do love this series, and this one might sound interesting enough to warrant consideration.

Just in case anyone cares (FUCK YOU ALL IF YOU DON'T!!), I did indeed pick up a copy of this, and it's really damn fun. The stealth works pretty well, Clank's weapons are more than enough to take out the bad guys if he gets spotted, the mini-games are quite challenging without being frustrating, and the Ratchet levels are nowhere near as hard as some of the reviews claim.

Really a fun little title. I fired it up for the first time the other night, intending to play maybe 20 minutes, ended up putting in a solid hour and twenty instead.

Honestly, no, this probably isn't the one to get into the series on, Trey- it's probably the biggest departure the series has ever taken from the established norm. Pretty big emphasis on stealth, with a much lesser proportion of gameplay based on the normal take of playing as Ratchet and blowing shit up and shooting motherfuckers.

I don't know, though, maybe if you never got into it for precisely the reason that you weren't all that into the norm, you might like this better? It's still obviously an R and C game, controls the same and all, just a pretty unique bent to the gameplay. I really like it to change the formula up a bit, though, so I could see it appealing to people for either of those reasons.

edit: I'd recommend any, as far as getting into the series, other than Deadlocked. That one is essentially just an FPS, probably the worst of all of them. Try Going Commando or Up Your Arsenal for the best on PS2, or Future Tools of Destruction on PS3 (which is gorgeous, to boot).
