lol, a scam? cool out, bb, it's just a game.

and are you sure those supers were removed? those are different than regular fatalities as far as i know.

EXACTLY. It's justa a game, that's why I hate the fact that it appears they have edited out what I believe to be an important aspect of replay value imo.
For those of you upset about the censorship,I feel your pain especially when you can turn on the tube and view game advertisements glorifying violence to promote their product which looks waay more realistic then cartoony 2D.
To release or display a 'teaser demo' with fatalities and gore only to seemingly censor it out.........
EDIT I found the word, WEASILY thing to do!!

OK... I agree with Big Bear here.

The whole thing is a scam.

They added like 3 characters... took some out. Added one special technique for every character, but took a few special moves out of the game. Added in some backgrounds from the past Samurai Shodown games. And they took out something else... story mode.

Do you think people who paid like 300+ dollars to buy this brand new care about the character tweeking... no, if they cared about all that they would be playing it in the arcade, not at home.

But I can deal with all that.

It's the fatalities not being put back in which is just fscking dumb.

How would we feel after spending 350++ for the AES version only to find out that the 60 or 70 something PS2 or XBOX version has it...Well Il just enjoy the fact that this is still a good game and the last AES cart...Minus the drama which we all love:)

I think it's gay if infact the fatalities aren't in it, but I will not lose sleep over this. I'm still saving up for the MVS version, it will be mine, oh yes...it will be mine.

I just got the game and I'm already starting to get bored with it. Not enough new things in the game to deserve the Special title. Same character sprites, 4 new backgrounds, recycled backgrounds from SS3 and SS4, a few new music tracks, ability to play as the bosses, some minor tweeking here and there, story mode removed, and NO FATALITITES.
You can't even tell it's the end of the match (end of 2nd or 3rd round) because the anouncer doesn't say "sobody" anymore and the background music keeps playing just like at the end of round 1. Just doesn't feel final when you defeat your opponent.
One nice thing is the computer AI is fun to play against. It did a meditation move on me.

But they're the same as SS4 and SS5. Bored already.
At least with SS1 to SS2 to SS3 everything was fresh.

Quote from KAO MEGURA'S SAMURAI SHODOWN 5 SPECIAL FAQ:

"- Characters have some minor changes, but most seem to have no new moves
or abilities (and some characters have lost moves, like Galford and
Hanzo's teleports, or Yunfei's triangle jump)."

You calling Kao Megura a liar?

I got my HC today, and played it for about an hour. Mesmerized by the speed of the game, the absolute violence of it, blood, bones breaking (hanzo's special), and the depth of the gameplay. It is like SS2 with SS3 and above sprites, playing MOTW fast.

This game... really impresses me. I love it. The music, atmosphere, and the insanity that many of the characters convey to each other. Also, a really neat little perk that Yuki threw in, the ability for your character to drop his weapon whenever he wants by hitting <start> three times quick. Way cool! Now I don't have to find Ninja Masters to have the option of dropping my weapon.

This game is brutal, and indeed fun. I just feel totally shafted by SNKP/Yuki that they didn't throw in fatalities.

That's weird. I saw SS5S vid from acho and I saw my Samurai Shodown fantasy come true. Kyoshiro split Rimururu in half with an overhead attack. It happened just like it would in SS1-3 (a major counter IIRC). I assume they were playing in the arcade as I saw the vid a little over a month ago. When did SS5S get released in Japanese arcades?

To an extent I agree, a lot of people complained about the lack of an English story mode, but it really wasn't that bad. I know what happens when time is running out and you don't have the resources to do everything you wanted to do. And translating an entire story mode probably didn't fit into the schedule. On the flip side, why take the time to develop, test, and tweak features only to disable them in the final build. We do that from time to time if something is crashing or causing a problem, but I don't see the fatalities doing that. Truly it is wasted resources, man power, and time (money) on SNKPs part... only to piss off their fan base. And just in case no one heard the harp... WHY TAKE OUT POPPY? :p Heh, it's not like she is using resources that were needed for something else. Overall not a terrible release, but a disappointing one. I think I’ll stay with SS5 until SS5S hits dirt cheap prices… it’s not worth the extra cash in my eyes… Two flawed games, I’ll pick the cheaper one.

I have it saved but how do I post it here? It's about 71MB avi file

Don't suppose you could try AIM on emailing that sucker? By the time I got a program to download that thing, the link went caput!

Personally, I'm too pissed about the insane AI to care about the lack of kills and suicides, but I may as well see what the hell raising's all about.

I think that breaking bones thing is just a move and not a fatality. Anyway... this Nakoruru fatality is fucking sick.

Nakoruru_02.gif

And I guess these are sprites ripped from the rom... which are just as sick.

So no one has answered the question... are fatalities in the arcade version or do you people not go to the arcades?

That kill reminds me of some of the No Contest finishers in SSIV. Nothing new really, except it's Nako that's getting slipt up.

Much can be learned by playing the games then just admiring them on the shelf. :buttrock:

Well, this is still built on the SS4 engine, so a lot of the SS4 functions remain the same. Well, as long as I got the IK showcase video along with the unused graphics and voices from the first SS5 rom I can simply Mugenize these Zetsumei Ougis and fatalities myself!

This is going to be painful beicause the way I saw it through my eyes was that SSV Special was "SPECIAL" for this very reason you'll seee on video being as they literally introduced each character along with their "special" moves on the website.
What is it that makes SPECIAL so "special" now?? I'm serious here Because they balanced it out as best they could?? Because they dropped three COOL characters in favor of 3 cool replacements??
Hey, the AI is supposed to be seriuosly difficicult this time around so that's good news being as I found SSV's AI just insanely too easy...
I'm goinmg to end up getting the game like the next man BUT if you remove the special features of a game, should'nt this installment be titled Samurai 6?

Hey guys,
I've uploaded the Special Kill Moves video for SS5Special. It's a large file (71MB). Right click and save or copy and paste to your browser.

http://www.streamload.com/streetfighter501/SSVSpecialKillMoves

Let me know if the link doesn't work.
I have only a limited amount of downloads that I signed up for, so first come first serve. Once my paid limit is up, that's it. Hopefully someone else can post it once they download it from me.

Mmmm... Thanks for the video, that was awesome. :D This game is for sure on my to buy list now, was there already (just have played SSV twice at the arcade so far) but those Kill moves rule...

:buttrock:

Not sure if I'll end up getting the SSVS MVS or PS2 version though... hopefully the MVS version goes down in price soon.
