Fatalities just add to the realism. I mean if get cut for 2 rounds, you're gonna cut in half or something. Plus it's been in all the other SS releases. So when you take it out, it feels lesser.

Listen to yourself...Realism in Samurai Showdown? That makes me laugh. I love the series and all but it is in no way realistic so your argument doesn't really work. If Samurai Spirits was a realistic game then the match would be over by the first slice of the blade and there wouldn't be bears sitting up on Nakoruru's front porch with her family witnessing the fight.

NO FATALITIES?
I'm starting to appreciate part IV more and more...
Samurai Shodown V was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overhyped upon it's release imo and now I'm reading that Yuki circulated a teaser reinstating what should have never been removed??
The game is lifeless minus the Body Splitting & Decapitations.. Dare I state that Fatalities is the heart and soul of Samurai Shodown especially AFTER FOUR predecessors!! What is SSV and SSVspecial really offering that parts 1-4 didnt?? A few new characters???
If it's true that fatalities have been removed from the MVS version(I doubt) as well as the Home version..it amounts to the last release being a SCAM imo.

You guys aren't talking about those sweet ending moves that we had the big long thread of pictures for, that SNKP had on their site? Those are in the game, right?

The real question is if the game is worth owning if you already have 5? And yes I was looking forward to the fatalities but they dont make or brake to game.

All the instant kill moves were apparently modified so that the character does a single slash that draws a little blood. All of the instant kill moves and fatalities were apparently removed.

http://www.h2.dion.ne.jp/~anicap/ This is just to prove fatalities do in fact exist. This is straight from the SS5 rom. These were just graphics never used.

True, but if you use a little imagination then it works. During the rounds it's like any samurai fight. You'll get cut here and there but in the end, the winner cuts the opponent in two.

I'm not looking for a Mortal Kombat but when something is censored it pisses me off. We all saw videos of every character's fatality move. That's what we then all expected the game would include when we got our copies. It just makes it seem like we've been cheated and lied to when the game got edited for home release. All the hype for nothing.

I think that breaking bones thing is just a move and not a fatality. Anyway... this Nakoruru fatality is fucking sick.

Nakoruru_02.gif

And I guess these are sprites ripped from the rom... which are just as sick.

So no one has answered the question... are fatalities in the arcade version or do you people not go to the arcades?

Yeah, realistic the way you get chopped in half, your top half slowly sliding away to reveal that you were hollow like a chocolate bunny with no bones or internal organs, and then your top half blinks away into thin air. That kind of realistic? If that's really the most important aspect of the game to you -- more than new characters, new gameplay features, etc. -- just keep playing 1-4. Why do you even need a new game?

And it didn't get "edited for home release". As posted above, the MVS version is identical. If this were an actual case of censorship, where the Japanese were getting the fatalities, and we weren't, I'd be hollering as loud as anyone. But that's not the case. If I start hearing about things that are in the JP bios but not in US bios, then I'll get mad.

It is realistic. That's how Asian people die. They squirt blood and they fly too! I saw it on Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. These people are amazing. They just didn't have enough memory to add in the guts and intestines.
Fatalities have been part of a Samurai Showdown tradition. Maybe the censorship has something to do with Playmore. But it is censorship since at one point the fatalities were intact.

OK, hypothetically, if you had a choice between "Samurai Showdown 5 Special" and "Samurai Showdown 5 Special Complete (uncut)" both for the same price. Which game would you pick up?

I just think that the fatalities give the game more replay value. After playing the game for a while, the music, backgrounds, and challengers get old, especially after you've beaten the game with every character and have seen all the endings. It's always just fun to play the game and see random fatalities. It's like a box a chocolates, you never know which one you get.
