I don't know if this was posted or not, but there are a few SS0 Special videos on challenger-am.com/ (About 2/3 down on the right)

Rera vs. Shizu, Shizu vs. Tam Tam, and Rera vs. Basara.

The Shizumaru player (Teru) especially, still seems to rely heavily on the push throws.

The vids played fine for me. After downloading, they self extracted using winrar and became an .avi file which played on windows media player. You may need to download a divx (3.11, divx4 or divx5 codec) for the player

I think we can all assume that this game is AMAZING since there hasn't been any feedback yet. People must be glued to their NEO GEOs. I don't blame them. I should be getting mine tomorrow.

You are right. Divx is required to play these and many other international-based videos lately.

Buster broon- just go to www.divx.com and download/install the latest Divx WMP plug in. You should play the videos without a problem.

Hi buster,

Are you extracting using winrar? I used winrar to extract and it came out fine. Try searching google for "winrar download". that should point you to a trial version.

Ok folks, here's a mini review:

Graphics: 9

+ Great new BG's and character art!

- Many of the same sprites, but that's not a bad thing!

Sound FX and music: 8

+ Great new music (especially the ending), and excellent metal-into-flesh spurts!

- Some of the FX are a little tame at times.

Control: 10

+ Perfect tight control. Improved from 5 with better reaction time and a smoother player to character interface! Some moves have been changed, like using BCD to enter "Nothingness" instead of QCB+CD, making a more natural set-up.

- Um...there is no negative!

Gameplay: 9

+ The characters have been balanced out, so fights are matched better. The speed is faster, and the accuracy of the hits have been tweaked. Also, most characters have new characteristics to specials. Example: Ukyo's swallow swipe during a Hard slash makes him cough afterwards, and will land closer if blocked. However, if it connects, it can do 7 hits! Om another note: Countering is a big part of this one! You have both a smple repel, and one that actually knocks out you opponent's weapon!

There is also a new Kill move, which can only be done during the final round (for you opponent) while he/she is in the Blue meter, or has used "Nothingness". Also, you must be in "Rage Explosion". Once these criteria have been met, simply do a QCB+CD, and watch the blood flow, followed by some great music and effects!

- Some moves still do way too much damage.

To sum it up: 9

A great last game for the Neo, this one offers a better balance of strategy, reaction and skill than SS Zero. Wonderful to play, super fun, and a very smart AI make this one of the most challenging and rewarding Fighters in a long time! Actually gettting to the real final boss (and the others) is a blast (and not a cakewalk), and very fulfilling when done! Just like Shin Samurai Spirits, a special ending awaites those with the skill to beat the game in one credit.

All in all, this game is RAD!!! :buttrock: :buttrock:

New Poppy Code Please... Playmore... please don't have taken her out... We need Raz or someone to look through the <cough> roms </cough> code and see if she is still playable :D Honestly, there was something very special about having Poppy... it would be a shame if she got shafted with the lesser of two games.

So there's absolutely no story? How about an ending for each character? Even a still picture?

I just got mine and played it for about an hour. So far I haven't noticed a story mode in either Japanese or English.
New intro, much better than SS5.
Some new backgrounds. Hattori Hanzo's background from SS3 is back with bubbling lava sounds. Some new music tracks.
Some new alternate character colors.
I haven't yet figured out how to slice people in half at the end of the match or fatality. Even after playing for an hour no one's been cut in half. I'm wondering if that's only in the MVS and not the home version.
How do you do the FATALITIES? It's not in the manual.

I think there is a violence setting on MVS. At E3 I was cutting people left and right ;) Maybe this needs to be set for the Home mode? Or perhaps it is Japanese only?

Fatalities:

This is the overkill move.

First, it must be that last round where your opponent will loose the match.

Two, there life meter must be flashing blue, or they must have used "Nothingness"

Three, you must do a Rage Explosion.

Four, do QCB+C+D.

If you hit, you will see the goodness!

No story, and there are multiple endings depending on what you do:

3 "fake endings"

1 "Real Ending"

1 "Special Ending"

If you guys want me to tell you how to get them, I will, but I don't want to spoil the fun of figuring it out yourself! :buttrock:

Do you mean there is 1 common "real ending" and 1 common "special ending" that is the same no matter which character you use? Or a different one for each character? Does it include a picture, or is it text only? Is it also in English mode, or only in Japanese? Thanks for the info.

I think the Home Version has been edited. I did the overkill move but everyone does the same thing where they just drive their sword through the opponent with the drum roll music in the background. Then blood splatters but no cutting in half. I remember seeing videos where each fighter had a unique fatality move.
I'm assuming at this point that the AES version does not have fatalities or any gruesome body cutting. I've played for 2 hours and nothing. I have a debug bios chip on my Neo and have it set to Japan. MVS mode doesn't work.

This is disappointing.

The endings are indeed common. Yes, there is a picture for each of these endins as well. I have yet to play it in english, but I'll do that and let you know!

This is disappointing.

Arcadia mentioned that an early version of Special did indeed have seperate Fatalities, but they were axed in the latest version (including MVS). They even have some nice pics of them. :crying:

Yeah, that is a bit dissapointing.

No splitting in half. No fatalities. Nothing to play for. This game SUCKS!!! Same reason I didn't like SSV. It's fun to play for the first couple hours. Then it becomes pointless when you know you can't see fatalities and bodies cutting in half and decapitations. Gameplay is improved from SSV and there are some new and recycled backgrounds and music. That's about it.
I'm sure there are others out there that are disappointed.

Does this mean that SSV special does not have "Fatalities" but I remember seeing pictures of it...Perhaps they axed it...I hope not...If they did I hope they include it in the "port" versions...
