I just started playing it two days ago

I played this on my Neo CD back in 96 I believe with a guide that someone had printed out for me and I still got that guide which is like 50 odd A4 pages

That time in 96 u remember getting to the final boss but couldn’t win as I was too under leveled

This time I am tempering my sword and I am farming up. I have just beaten a boss as Ise shrine and I am about level 28 I believe

Is that a good level at this stage ?

I’ve completed chapter 2 of now I’m doing the bonus stage but I’m trying to see if there’s an ending or something

Finally completed both chapters and the bonus game endings

Any questions best to ask now while it’s still fresh in my mind

Thank you
Were you playing using @Deuce 's English patch? The patch includes some quality of life improvements to make the game easier.

Wow, you didn't know there's an English patch released? You can play through the game in English now. The English patch has been released since December 2023.

No I completed the English patch but I don’t know how many different English patches there are ?

You mentioned deuce so I don’t know if there are different versions of people who made the translation

No, there's only one. By default it has some options enabled to make the game easier.

This is in the Readme.txt file that comes with the patch. I believe you need a Unibios installed to toggle these for US/EU consoles. One of my systems has a NeoSD Loader, so that includes the Unibios, and can change these.

Quality of Life improvements, which can be toggled via soft DIPs, but are
enabled by default in US/EU mode, or disabled for JP mode.
- Choose between the original Neo*Geo CD or the PS1/Saturn version of the
elements system
- Improved potency of permanent stat boost items
- Improved potency of Repellent item (temporarily lowers encounter rate)
- Selectable alternate palettes. Hold D while pressing A when confirming any
character selection until you hear a chime. Not dependent on soft DIPs.
