some bits of info: online races consisting of upto 14 competitors, 160 tracks, and the involvement of Reiko Nagase.
Hideo Teramoto is producer, Masaya Kobayashi director, and Hiroshi Okubo will be in charge of the musical score. work started as of the end of part 6.
so far, no actual gameplay footage - just concept art and alike in the latest Famitsu.

Hmm, and I would've thought they'd just port 6 instead. Either way, I'm hoping it's closer to R4 than anything else.

I'm not in the least bit excited by this.
But I'll probably still buy it when I buy a PS3 anyway.

ridge racer = launch series.

they only way they sell this crap is by putting it out on a launch system when there's nothing else to play.

Ridge Racer 4 was the first video game I ever sold back to EB and happily took the $15 loss. So dull compared to RR, RRR, and Rage Racer, imo. 4 is the game I'm hoping RR7 is nothing like...

I would buy a game called Fridge Racer.
These kind of comments and the impeccable timing they carry is part of the reason why Nesagwa owns me for free.

Absolutely.
I've been playing it non-stop, the drift mechanics are fucking perfect, and the speed in the later classes is amazing.

Yes, it isn't quite as ambitious from a 'design' standpoint like Rage or R4, but it's an amazing chapter in the series nonetheless. If you really love RR for the gameplay, you love RR6, period.

Who wants to race on Live, bitches?

Funny enough, I'm still rather new to RR6. I had the Ridge Racers on the PSP and really digged it, and it took that Ridge Racer 6 Demo, they uploaded, to tell me I had to pick that game up right away. I knew it would be good, considering some of the comments on this board, but the demo was that 1..2. punch that said, "Whatever those guys were telling you, believe it and then some."

Though I'm participating in the PGR3 tournament (updates and all), I'm game for some Ridge Racer madness tonight.

We should start a club. RR4 was boring as hell for some reason.

I do love RR6, however. :)

Rage Racer was the only great game of the series. Everything else is just average or worse.

Strangely enough, according to the family journals that have been passed down through the generations, I have an ancestor who was tried at the Salem Witch Trials. According to the journal, he was the only one of his group (whatever the hell that was) found innocent. I'm sure he would have said RR4 was dull as well. Then he would go :buttrock:

Big fucking deal, honestly.

Namco needs to change the core gameplay of "hit the brakes, hit left/right, slam the gas" and move to a more physics-based style of drifting.

I love the RR series as much as anyone, but after the fucking 200+ race bore-fest RR6, its grown REALLY stale, REALLY fast.

Online? Who cares. Customization? Play NFS Underground. Faster? Burnout.
