[Burning Fight!!]

Is there one of these things that can upscale past 240p but then output component? I'd love to use it on an HD CRT that doesn't like 240p signals.

You don't need to buy a Retrotink branded one necessarily, transcoding to component is a simple passive circuit, but yeah that should work well.

When I used to GAF about CRTs I used to pipe my MVS RGB signal through a GBS-8200 with the GBS Control firmware for Component Out. It could even downscale 480i to 240p. It's been a while though

EDIT: oh if you need to force 480p then I don't think that would work... GBS control might be able to force 480p? I don't remember.

So your point is that it supports 240p, 288p, 480i, 576i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i but that it's going to output whatever the input is. Am I understanding that right?

This thing is what you get if you have a CRT with component inputs but no RGB.

Yeah, I've used several different upscalers with my homemade supergun.

From Micomsoft I've only used the XRGB-mini Framemeister. The Retrotink 5X and 4K, as well as the OSSC are a lot faster. The Retrotink products are generally much more compatible with a range of different kinds of sync from arcade boards. I would trust the Retrotink4K much sooner to work with an odd jamma board than the Framemeister.

Thx for the reply. The X•RGB2 + runs Siebu and Data East boards (with their weird sync issues) fine, so I guess I’ll stick with it for now.

Updated the RTK4CE to experimental firmware 1.31 today and had a little play with the neo settings. Eh, it's not looking that great, and during the intro of SS2 where you get the explosion - or on gen-an's stage where you have the fires it just desyncs a bit.

What profiles are out there I can use with this. I think I tried the firebrandx ones before. I'm on neo geo 320 x 10 or something and just playing with about 1000 settings to try and get the picture anything like as good as my OSSC was once I'd tweaked it.

Not sure you like the CRT shaders look, but with my 3-4 model I never had any trouble using the Kuro Houou profiles (they should be there by default or for updated ones he publishes them through their X account.

Stock 3-4 with retrogamingcables RGB lead over an old Sony Bravia A8H Oled, no sync issues on my end.

You shouldn't be losing sync at all. You might need to enable "wide tolerance" mode in the sync settings if that keeps happening.

I use the FirebrandX ones. They just handle scaling and cropping -- Nothing to do with losing sync.

I don't know if he has anything newer hidden behind his patreon, but I found these for Neo:

New RT4K Profiles WIP - 2024-07-02.zip

It doesn't look like he has one big zip for everything unfortunately, he kinda releases new profiles piecemeal and includes a new zip when something is updated. Dude needs a github. https://www.patreon.com/firebrandx

That's the right post. If I recall, the SD card included with the RT4K comes with them and others already on it.

I had a hell of a time getting the Neo to work with the 5x Pro as well, you have to keep playing with the ADC settings.

The tard at ADK that decided to output that non-standard video timing when designing the Neo should have been taken out back and shot.

Never had any issues with the MV1B and 1C although I own a particular genny RGB scart cable that makes sync be fucked up on my 5x for some reason. Maybe some filter circuits throw off timing, I don't fucking know.

So I've just deleted the profiles I had saved and put the default sdcard files on but with the latest experimental firmware. Once I select any of the firebrandx profiles then get no sync I'll turn on wide tolerance, then where do I tweak to try get it to sync

What kind of Neo Geo is it? Is it RGB bypassed? Is it the first revision with the same timing crystal as the MVS?
