Im still thoroughly enjoying this. A friend and I did Chris' campaign on professional and I gotta say it actually ended up being VERY easy to be honest. I was playing as Piers and I got to the end with a FULL STOCK of ammo, which actually kinda made me made given the way the story went.

As far as my skills I have Defense 3, Boost Combat Guage, and Critical Hit 3.

All I have left is Leon 4&5 on professional and then im moving to Ada. If any of you are on XBL lets play!!!!

So if you beat it on professional, do you still have to go back and play the other modes for achievements, or will it automatically give you credit for normal, etc

I didn't get credit for beating the other modes. That said, the easy way is probably to win on the easy modes, level up the skills, and then use those to coast through professional. I recommend going in without skills.

You actually have to go through and beat it on EACH difficulty to get each achievement, which is a questionable choice from Capcom in my opinion. Thats why I usually start on the hardest level with games is to go ahead and get all the achievements/trophies out of the way. You also have to beat it with EACH character on EVERY level to get 100% completion. The emblems in this are also far too easy to find, theres no real "searching" for them anymore.

I didnt expect the skills to have THAT much of a difference on the main game, or maybe I just chose a very good load to go with. But in my Piers professional campaign all I did was keep ammo for the anti-material rifle and use its quick shot function. It was dropping enemies left and right. Meaning that throughout the whole game I was conserving ammo on every other weapon I picked up so when we made it to the last boss I had full handgun, shotgun, grenade launcher (all types), a full tablet case, 3 first aid sprays, AND at least 3 G+R combinations. So you can imagine how I felt when we got to the Haos fight and the story progressed.

Also another thing I noticed that two people online can play on two separate difficulties. If you accept a game invite from someone your game you play with them will be on the last difficulty that YOU played on, and not the difficulty that the other person has set for them to play.

Defense in particular is a very powerful skill when it's maxed out. Leveling up a skill is pretty much BS until you max it out (for example, level 1 handguns slightly increases power, which level 3 significantly increases power). Defense 3 and handguns 3 are the two most important skills if you want clear the game easy.

Another point is that the partner AI is pretty bad. If you have a friend playing as the partner, the difficulty drops like a rock. For example, with the last boss in Chris, getting a clear shot is hard to do when your partner is following you around, because the boss will just track you. But if you can split positions and flank the enemy, it will expose weakspots to one of you. Another example is the Hind. Taking down the Hind is way easier if the partner isn't on your ass, instead of distracting the Hind. Shit like that makes me not a fan of this buddy system.

I missed out on the MS Store offer. They sold out before I had decided I was going to take advantage of it. But then the reviews started coming in and I got the impression that I was better off.

And today I read about the not-so-obvious game mechanics (some of you guys might want to read this http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=494812) and watched some high-level Mercs play, and now I'm kinda regretting that I missed out again.

That video is awesome. Shows how great the game-play mechanics really are, and how beautiful the scenery is, which is a welcome change from RE 5, imo.

EDIT - the MS deal was awesome. The free 1600 points was great, and I used my $10 coupon toward another 1600 points, which cut the cost in half. Basically paid $69.99 for RE 6 and 3200 points.

Man that video was pretty tasty. I had no idea they added in all those gameplay mechanics. Will have to give this another go down the road.

Yeah, i also double checked as well, no achievement. Maybe it has something to do with playing online? What it might be is that when you accept a game invite and you dont start from the beginning of the chapter you get credit for beating the chapter on your progress board but not the achievement for that specific chapter. I noticed this.

that's why you should do single player and start from the beginning. only melee attacks

After playing through Leon's campaign, I made sure to play offline. Even if you're playing by yourself and you've clicked to play online, and not allow others to join, you won't be able to pause the game. I don't plan on playing with others until I've gotten the achievements I need. I'll find out soon if I get credit for the others.

I'm not saying you didn't, but if you cleared on normal, and hosted, it's possible you were playing with someone that was on Amateur and that snagged your extra achievement.

yeah i never really thought of that. I've always hosted when ive played and had countless people come and go i guess that could be the reason.

I saw Ghost N' Goblins on a candy cab and many other Capcom arcade games. :D :)

No, I just finished offline, playing normal with Ada, and got both normal and amateur completely unlocked. I guess I had to complete every campaign for it to do that.

I am surprised to see so many people here enjoying this game.

I am not going to get in a fight with anyone here, but I'm just gonna say:

I don't like this game very much at all. I'm incredibly disappointed in it.

NOT because 'it's not Resident Evil.' I like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and think anyone that complains about that game 'not being Castlevania' is missing the point. So it has nothing to do with that.

I am not even having very much fun with Mercenaries. In fact, I am having more fun with Mercenaries 3DS with my nephew in co-op than I am in this game.

I consider RE 6 a chore to play, by comparison.

I really had high hopes for this game after playing Revelations on the 3DS, which was the perfect evolution for the series' gameplay, IMO.

Quick version: the game spreads itself too thin and doesn't do any of it very well.

There are some spots I liked:

Ada's stealth was fun (except for the QTE moments, which I felt were too unforgoviing)

I felt the Ada chopper sequence was very empowering and cathartic. It reminded me of the gunship sequence in RE 4, and it felt good to turn the tables on the enemy.

The part where Jake is in the lab without weapons or PDA was very cool.

I really liked the climax and conclusion of the Chris Redfield storyline, but I hated the fight itself.

Overall, the campaigns feel very disjointed and there are far too many sequences where the momentum is broken.

Also, far too many explosions and I just didn't care about most of what was happening. There is nothing truly memorable about this game that would make me ever want to revisit the campaign.

Glad to see people enjoying it. I am not one of them.
