kernow will love this...

After more than two decades of Nintendo abstinence, I finally gave in and bought a brand new Cube + RE4 pack... mind you, it still feels a bit weird to see a Nintendo logo on my TV...

RE4 is nothing less than the most awesome action rpg/survival horror game I've ever played. Graphics, sound and the overall atmosphere are phantastic, control is spot-on, and the RPG-ish elements have been cut down to a minimum, which I like because I'm really not a action RPG buff.

For me, the big difference between RE4 and other games of its genre is the almost arcade-ish approach when it comes to puzzles and stuff like that, what's there works very well and it's just the right amount IMO.

Now, what other games are like RE4? I'm about to finish it and I feel that I could do with some more of it... and, what's your take on the game if you compare it to the other RE/Biohazard games?

Also, what are other recommended Cube titles?

Hey, I'm a Nintendo n00b so bear with me... :)

When I had Resident Evil 0, that was very good, tho i was too underpowered by the time i got to the second disk and found it very hard, i'm not the best at these types.

Certainly it has some amzing graphics, breathtaking scenes really.

If you like star Wars, the GC Rogue Leader was pretty amazing.

Good to see someone else enjoying RE4 truely a Classic. As for games like it I'm not sure about that I'll check around to see but I doubt it. The other RE games are hit or miss RE1 and RE CV are good while the others are crap IMO. As for games what type of genres do you like. I'm list some of my favs but I'll keep the rpg's out since your not a fan.

Mario Kart DD-Great fun especially with others playing
Ikaruga-Sweet shooter
Soull Caliber 2-The best Version of this game
Super Smash Broothers Melee-a great party game
Animal Crossing-this could be the most addictive game ever
Mario sports games-golf(plays like hot shots) and tennis plus some new ones these are always fun
Resident Evil-this remade version is beautiful and really fucking hard
Sonic Collection-Can't go wrong with these
Metroid Prime series-great adventure game

I'm pretty sure more people will give more good games I can't think of. You should try Zelda though truely underrated because of it's graphics

The RE Remake looks good, since I skipped the game when it was hot on PSX, I'll probably check that one out.

About the Metroid Prime games, my RE4 Cube pack came with a bonus disc which contains footage of the other Cube RE titles, as well as a playable demo of MP: Echoes... the game looks and plays very good, but from what I've seen so far, it's a bit too RPG-esque for my taste.

I prefer a simpler approach (read: a dumb shmup disguised as an action adventure with huge pattern-based bosses)... :)

Also, I've heard that many day-one RE/Biohazard fans are not really happy with RE4 - is that true, and if so, why?

I have Metroid Prime 2 and couldn't force myself to play it. I always got sleepy will playing...

RE4 is one of the best games I have ever played I need to give it another run through.

Some of the original fans of RE liked the suspense of not being able to change the camera or aim freely. The puzzles used to be a lot harder than in 4, those are not even really puzzles... Although I hated the tile re-arrangement, I suck so bad at those. The storyline in RE4 doesn't really follow along with the other games in the series.

I've heard that Cold Fear is like RE4 in a lot of ways. I myself haven't played it but there was thread a week or so back about it. The only problem is its only on ps2 and xbox.

Eternal Darkness!
AWEsome game. Not as hard as RE series, but i found it to be much spookier, and very enjoyable.

I found metroid prime 1 & 2 to be excellent games. It took me a while to get into the first one (i spent a lot of time complaining that metroid should be 2D), but once i was in, i was hooked. MP was, IMO, one of the best single player games of any kind, on any console in YEARS Perhaps THE best.

This man speaks the truth.

I really think you should spend a little more time with the Metroid Prime series if you like RE 4. And you should definitely start with the original Metroid Prime game instead of Echoes.

Personally, I love both of them, but Echoes is a little more diffficult to get into. It's a great game, but it sort of different - kind of like Majora's Mask for the N64 vs. Ocarina of Time.

Anyway, I urge you to pick up the original Metroid Prime and spend a couple of hours with it. The puzzles aren't too difficult and they sort of lead you along so things don't ever slow down too much. A few of the Chozo artifacts are a little bit of a pain to find, but nothing really too bad.

And of course - play the rest of the RE series if you haven't already! RE 1-3 are great games, and I love the character-switching aspect of zero as well. I don't know if you've played RE 2 yet, but if you haven't you should definitely pick up a copy for the Cube. It wasn't really enhanced or anything, but it doesn't really need to be - it's an absolute classic!

Just got Cold Fear and it is similar to RE4. Not a strong a title (it would be hard) but if RE4 did not come out this yeat I am sure Cold Fear would have had a pretty good reputation as a solid survival/horror type game.

You may want to check out PN 03 then. It's one of those games that people either seem to love or hate. I don't think you can go wrong if you can get it for cheap. I thought it was well worth the $20 I paid for it.

Eternal Darkness is also great, though it is a bit easy and gets a little repeatative. However, the story and atmosphere are top notch. I couldn't put this game down when I first got it

I will give MP a try, and be it just to see if it's a little more straight-forward than Echoes. Heh, guess I have to train my endurance in these games a little, the trickier the puzzles, the more likely it is for me to get bored and switch off... ...which is why I love RE4, I only want more of it the more I play it.

RE Remake and RE2 have been added to my wanted list already, as well as F-Zero GX. I liked the first F-Zero a lot, it was one of the few SNES games I've played to death. Back then, a friend of mine and I used to swap consoles from time to time (he got my Genny, I got his SNES), and while I didn't really care for the Mario franchise or the Zelda games, I had mad fun with F-Zero.

If you don't like puzzles I can't imagine you enjoying any of the previous RE games.

I like puzzles, I just don't like it if they become the focal point of the whole game. As long as there are some zombie skulls to split, I'm okay with them. :)
