Guy Fawkes and three of his fellow conspirators were sentenced to be hanged, drawn and quartered, the traditional punishment for those who were found guilty of high treason back in 17th century England.
Fawkes sort of escaped the drawing and quartering part by jumping from the scaffolding while the rope was already around his neck. He died before the executioner could take him off but his dead body nevertheless got quartered.
