Recommend a web hosting provider and online calendar tool

Anyone have any recommendations or horror stories about hosting providers? I'm putting together a site for a friend and I'd like to get something reliable and good bang for my buck. I'll most likely need PHP and DB access. It'd be nice to have direct SSH access and the ability to customize Apache. Anyone ever use http://www.bluehost.com?

I'm also gonna need to configure an online calendar tool that my friend and others can update. Anyone have any recommendations in that realm either? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Nes, I didn't realize that Google had calendars. I think my friend is looking for something for business centered that can be customized to look like part of the site. Seems to be a never ending list of crappy PHP calendar tools/scripts out there. WebCalendar seems like it's powerful and flexible, just hoping someone's actually implemented this stuff before.

I think google calendars has some features like Google Maps does so you can embed it in your webpage, but Im not completely sure.
