I'm about to go on a whole lot of travel for work and I'm looking for some DS games. I haven't been keeping up with the portable stuff, but I will play a lot of portable games. I'd like some games I can sit down and get into, not something silly like a wario ware that has a bunch of small mini games. I'll be playing on long flights and probably for a few hours at night to unwind.

They don't have to be new, the last game I played was New Super Mario Bros. I was thinking about the castlevanias, are they decent? Something along those lines that is pretty quality would be appreciated.

Thanks

Definitely would recommend both Castlevanias. I've been playing a lot of Phoenix Wright so I'd recommend that as well.

If you're really looking for time-intensive games, you can look at Advance Wars or Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart DS is awesome.

Not at home right now so I can't remember all my games, but suffice to say there's plenty out there.

Meteos, Metroid Prime Pinball, Tetris, both Castlevanias are great, Kirby Canvas Curse, Wario Ware Touched. That should get you started.:)

for long journeys - all five Castlevanias(GBA & DS), Yoshi's Island DS, Yoshi's Island GBA, Donkey Kong Country 1-3 GBA, Mario & Luigi Partners in Time, Super Princess Peach would be perfect.

Trioncube is the best puzzler I've ever played.

Are you saying this to make fun of my topic?

Regardless...yes, Trioncube is a fantastic puzzle game whether you are being serious or not.

Puzzle Quest:Challenge of the Warlords is another very good puzzle game. I would also suggest Custom Robo as well.

I don't play golf or watch it on tv, but True Swing Golf is awesome. Give it a shot.

I know it isn't a long quest type game, but I keep coming back to it.

Mario Kart DS is nice. Kind of stale if you've played the previous titles in the series, but still good fun.

Megaman ZX is cool. Has some animation cut scenes, obviously the heavy cute factor and the anime-esque BGM is an attempt to bring back the young demographic, but the game still has the fun exploration, the challenging boss fights, and cool suit abilities.

Ditto.

I became sort of burnt out on the mega man series after X6 or so, but have recently gone back and I really enjoy this title. It can be picked up cheap too! I bought a new copy at a local toys r us for $14.99. Well worth it in my opinion.

I haven't flown on a plane or been on a trip for awhile, but don't they disallow cell phones and games on the plane? They say it fucks with navigation systems, but I think that's bullshit. Or is it they don't allow devices to be used up to a certain distance in the air? I can't remember.

You can't play during take off and landing. Other than that, I have never been told that I couldn't play. Maybe they have a problem with the Wi-Fi, if you are doing multi-player?

Regardless, if a DS can make a plane go down, there is something wrong with our planes.

  • Final Fantasy III
  • Advance Wars: DS

Some good ones off the top of my head.

Nobody ever mentions Kirby Canvas Curse.

If you own a DS and haven't played Kirby Canvas Curse then go out and buy Kirby Canvas Curse then go play Kirby Canvas Curse.

In a fairly large library of great games, Kirby Canvas Curse is one the best offerings on the system yet Kirby Canvas Curse is also seemingly one of the most overlooked.

I agree with you. However, you have to keep in mind that for how popular the DS is, the games have a very short shelf life. (Other than the games that received a re release) Advance Wars, Kirby CC can be hard to find in a store, so a lot of times people will pick up something else.

I am not surprised that this has happened with third party games but I am a little surprised that some Nintendo made games have vanished for the most part.

Joe's selling it for the cheap in a thread where he quotes an Oingo Boingo song.
Less of a shameless plug for Joe and more of a 'let's spread the Kirby Love' thing.
