This game pops up on ebay every now and again and always fetches around $120. I always wanted to know the real scoop on this game as it reminds me of Captain Skyhawk for some reason.

So what would you rate it?

Also does the perspective throw you off when playing or is it easy to adapt to?

I'm guessing there's a lot of stuff going on, is it a lot like Mars Matrix or less stuff at one time?

Viewpoint is a rare gem in that it makes me want to TonK someone or the game itself.

For those that have beaten the game how long did it take? How many credits?

I had Veiwpoint for about 4 years and never beat it.

It is indeed a great game, stunning graphics and animation.
But as others have said it is stupidly hard. It's not even that their is alot happening at one either it's just very tightly planned to kick your ass.
Lots interaction with the environment a very high level of memorization is required to get past the second level.

Difficulty aside it is an amazing game.

Not to mention the scarcity of checkpoints. It's pretty annoying to die on the boss and get kicked back to about half way through the level.
If it were $50 cheaper it'd be worth it. Honestly, just pop Pulstar back in and forget about it.

Sure it can be worthy for a Neo player but for the regular shmups players, it's pretty time-wasting. There are so many better shmups around... And if you're not into shmups to the core, you will find it insanely frustrating.

Rated it 4.

One of the most unique shooter out there, kick ass soundtrack ( especially the 1st boss ) and as highly noted...harder than Japanese arithmetic.

This was one of the main reasons I picked up a NGCD. Picked up both the console and the game on CD at around the cost of a minty AES version.

if you go to the music forum you can find a link to the soundtrack in the hip hop sharing thread

1,2,3,4 - hit it!

I love the title screen too, so simple and understated, just a spinning 3d ship

The music is what makes Viewpoint.
Without it, everything would feel so generic and lame.
But because of it, it's a good game.

The last level will kill you, however.
And that ending for all that hard work is a really shitty payoff.

I'd give it a 7.5.

I'd say it's a must buy if your a collector or up to the challenge. To me Viewpoint is just one of those games that I wouldn't mind playing every once in a while. I myself haven't even gotten to the final level yet. I don't think it's worth the high price that it holds.

Never actually got around to owning this as each time one came on ebay was just a bit too expensive for me, but when i played it in the arcade i loved it, i thought it looked awesome and the music was great,

a defo coin cruncher

it is the first game i ever saw that amazed me with its 3D style graphics and a classic

shittest intro for any game ever though so fkn boring

I haven't also tried it yet, but I want to. Neo's shooters have always interested me, but cheaper shooters on other platforms have came up first. Price tag is keeping me little suspicious about it, but some day I definitely will save money for Viewpoint.

Very nice game.

I was heavily into Zaxxon so the isometric (?) viewpoint was/is no prob for me.

It's one of the must-have Neo shmups IMO.

i gave it a 5. I bought this about a month or so ago and still cannot get past level 3. I'm currently playing COD II for the 360 on Veteren and Viewpoint on easy gives me more problems than COD II on the hardest setting.

Since I actually own the game, I would be veeeeerryy reluctant to believe that there is someone that can beat the game on 1 life without seeing it.

Great graphics, great sound and music, but the frustration factor forces me to give this game a 5 out of 10.

I've seen the video.

Crazy stuff.

Just tried to Google for it but came up with jack... but there's got to be someone around here who still has access to it.

Great game though, just balls hard as everyone else says.

This shoot 's a bit particular, with funny foes, in isometric 3D... & very hard :D
But I love it... don't compare it with other shmups such as Blazing Star, Pulstar or The Last Resort... coz it has a different gameplay.
