R-Type Command pre-order bonus - select retailers will have the limited edition R-9 Figurine.

The demo is pretty good IMO, lets you play three missions. R-Type Command is NOT for everyone. It's not a shmup at all, but takes all the signature elements of R-Type and cleverly turns it into turn-based strategy. If you liked Military Madness on the TurboGrafx-16 (and it's obscure, Japan-only sequel, Neo Nectaris, on the Turbo Duo), you might very well enjoy this game.

To try the demo, you need this

hook up your PSP to your PC via USB /data cable

Isn't it like that OLD gameboy game strategy game involving all Irem franchises, but now only with r-type elements?

I can't wait to finally play this. Awesome box art, too.

From everything I've read, this game will be great.

PS, yea...I'm bumping an AirRaid thread :buttrock:

Yeah, I'm not really interested in the game all that much. I'm just not big on turn based strategy. The figure is really fucking slick though. Surprised they actually offered that with the stateside release.

I really wish Irem would just release another shooter. Hell, even a compilation of classic stuff for the PSP would be great; Ninja Spirit please.

You guys may already know, but there is a gashapon series of classic shooter ships available at playasia(among other places). They had at least one of the R-type ships in there, as well as the Vic Viper and some other golden oldies.

They were pretty cheap if I recall.

edit: says they're out of stock, but you can probably find them around somewhere:

I'm a huge fan on R-Type.

I'd like to see all the official games: R-Type, R-Type II, Super R-Type, R-Type Leo, Armed Police Unit Gallop, R-Type III, R-Type Delta, R-Type Final, as well as the unofficial R-Type games made by former Irem staff: Last Resort, Pulstar, in a compilation.

To be honest, R-Type Final sucked. Best thing about it was the pre-rendered CGI intro. Loved that. If there ever is another shooter, I hope its NOT some crappy
XBLA/ PSN/ Wiiware / PC Flash game, but a proper sequel. Put it on Taito's Type X2 board, and make it along the lines of original R-Type, Last Resort or Pulstar, my favorite of those games.

Until then, I'll emerse myself in turn-based hexagonal strategy bliss. R-Type Command is the next best thing to having a new Military Madness game (something that the fuckheads at Hudson have yet to do this generation).

I enjoy tactical games (loves me some Advance Wars), but I'll have to see how this one pans out. $40 is a hard pill to swallow for a PSP game. I've tried to find videos of actual gameplay, but all I find is a trailer for the game.

Here's hoping I can find a copy of it used for cheap down the road.

You know what, I think you and I have similar taste in games. I will disagree with you on R-Type Final though...I really enjoyed it, and while I think Delta is probably the better of the two recent games, Final is not without its charm.

I do really live the whole R-type series and the psuedo-sequels like Pulstar. Goddam awesome game...I actually enjoy Pulstar more than the original R Type.

Get your feet behind the grass, sir.

Seriously, I don't care if it's about starving children in Ethiopia, I'm never, ever, ever going to take an Airraid thread seriously.

Never, ever.

He actually seems sincere with this one(maybe take that with a grain of salt). I think we all need to get past our differences for the greater R-typey goodness.

Now all I need for my life to be complete are the following games to get made:

*Last Resort 2

*Pulstar Blast / Pulstar 2

*Pulstar Tactics / Pulstar Command

(on AES Cart and CD).

So any impression on the game thus far?

BTW: Air Raid, keep up the good work. You're actually posting some good stuff. Don't go and ruin all my hopes now.:D

Yeah, that last post almost put everything to lose, though.

My buddy (member Greedostick) picked this up today and brought it by. Yeah the cover art was not the best for sure. The biggest let down was the bonus figure came with some wrong parts:angry:

The gameplay looked interesting but I dunno even if it is an Atlus game I mat have to pass on this one.

Any other impressions of this game? It seems very interesting....

I guess what I am looking for is other opinions about the game from those who have actually played it.

I played it for a bit but couldn't really get into it myself. I probably didn't give it enough time though.

I guess I'd just rather be playing a shooter on my PSP than this.
