The version of your system will determine what language your game will play in. A Japanese version home cart system will play either English or Japanese games, but the games will play in Japanese by default. An English version home cart system will play either English or Japanese games, but the games will play in English by default.
Most games allow you to select the language of your choice in the options menu. Keep in mind that some Japanese games are in Japanese only, regardless of the system you play on. For instance the Mahjong’s and Quiz games.
Japanese systems will play games completely uncensored, blood and all. However, the English version system will censor certain games, like Last Blade & Samurai Shodown.
