I kid you bastards not, PQ is really quite addictive. I thought it looked pretty silly originally, but picked it up anyway, and now I haven't touched any other games since I got it. Depth is surprisingly solid, and the AI plays well without being unfair.

Very recommended, IMO.

Seconded, and I usually dislike turn-based RPGs... Sure, the story is asinine, but the combat is pretty addictive. I'd recommend it over CFC DS, after spending a couple of hours with the card game last night...

Off topic: Nice to see another MMA fan!

In the way of handheld puzzlers, i'm playing Huarong Road on a GBA boot cart, kekeke.

I recommend anyone that likes testicle torture or brain peeling try it. :emb:

It plays like bejeweled but with a lot of RPG elements thrown in. I have it for the DS and I really like it. IGN gave both the DS and PSP version an 8.9. (From what I remember)

I've heard that there's a bug on PSP that keeps your party's abilities from working...not that they're all that great anyway (usually just -10 to a certain type of opponent). Then again, I think the guy that helps you siege cities better helps more than the others.

Yup, the bug exists but once you equip yourself with some good stuff, it is no longer an issue.

About 75% into the game, you should be able to make this:

Rune of Axe + Rune of God + Rune of Poison

The minigame required to do this is pretty tough, but well worth it. I only lost 2 times after I acquire this (once at the last boss). Wicked damage.

Pretty bad ass game. I think the Target where I got it is doing a test market or something, cuz it's the only Target in the area that has it, so I bought out their stock and mailed a copy to each of my friends as birthday gift. Both of them really liked it.

It's a western game with a completely nerdy D&D/Tolken storyline.

I bought it on ebay cause no store around here has it. I got it for $25 so that was not to bad. What's not so cool is that I am still waiting for it to show two weeks later.

Just got around to trying this today.

Simple, yet highly addictive.

Def one of the better releases this year.

Is it, really?

I thought D3 was a Japanese company.

Maybe I'm too impetuous with this game, but I lose a majority of the matches, even against lvl 9 foes (and I'm lvl 13). The computer seems to get all the chains, wildcards, 4 gems and skulls way too often.

I know the developer didn't make the AI cheat, because their msg board posting (cross-posed in GAF), said making the AI cheat would be more difficult to program, so they didn't do it. Still, the AI seems to get lucky way too often. Or I always pick the wrong gems.

Just because the AI doesn't cheat doesn't mean the gem randomizer doesn't cheat...again though, probably more effort than they cared to put in for something most players would hate anyway...

They are..and they published the game. The developers, 1st Playable Productions, are Australian I believe.

I can tell you something I noticed. Don't pick the "hint" you're given if you take too long. It seems to be about the worst pick you can make on the board.

Xyanide for PSP or Xbox? I love the Xbox original, but the PSP kinda blows.

I don't feel the AI cheat, but sometimes the board drops good stuff on AI's turn.

You have to think 1 step ahead (i.e. what happens to the drops after you make your move). Sometimes, I would purposely do an illegal move to take a few points of damage because the remaining moves all lead to better moves (4/5 in a row or big damage) to CPU. So I force the CPU to do those moves since they never do illegal moves.

I usually just use a cheap spell for that purpose...but I'm a druid, so that's my answer for lots of situations.

The problem I have with spell is that it can be unpredictable or that I don't have enough mana (or want to save it to go for big damage). But it is definitely a good option.

Well, "cheat" is a relative term. Quite often I see the "hint" do things like set up 3 or 4 skulls for the next AI turn when there are still other options on the board. It's not really cheating if you take the hint and set up the AI with a good turn. The point is if you see no other moves, make sure you see what's going to drop out if you take the hint. Since I do Druid also, sometimes it's just better not to play and do a heal on myself.

I've heard nothing but great things about this game, but I haven't picked it up yet.
Maybe I'll put it on my eventually-buy list since I've got so many unplayed games sitting around already.

Lucent - I'd put it in the back of your mind for the inevitable summer gaming drought.

For those of you playing, do you use all the spells often, or just go for skulls and the attack spells to win?

Well, it all depends on the point in the game you're at. Until I got Death Gaze, damage spells weren't THAT big a deal. I mean they came in handy, but I had to have a balanced approach with playing the board solidly and using spells at the right time for offense or defense. Post finding Death Gaze (does 50% damage, plus makes a skull on the board for every 5 health causeed), it's more or less a rushdown with me trying to get death gaze off for the first part of the fight and/or busting out berserk rage at an opportune time. Pretty much, if you don't have a resistance to green or red I'm guaranteed to land my death gaze and will very likely kill you on that turn. Even the last boss went down quickly to this tactic, despite having almost twice the health that I had.

Thankfully, I only discovered this shortly before beating the game and reaching level 50, so it didn't really ruin much of my playtime...it does make me more reluctant to buy the game again when it comes out on xbox live since you're still 50% likely to die if a death gaze is fired when you have a lot of health. I'm thinking it'll go down like nuclear war, with everyone bringing death gaze and counter-measures to keep death gaze from being fired at them.
