PSP-3000 - horizontal lines/scanlines/interlace issue?

i recently got a PSP-3000 system and there seems to be a big problem with 'horizontal lines', especially during high motion scenes/sequences. i've been looking up this issue via google searches and found that a lot of other people have this same problem with the 3000.
i've tried going through all the different settings, looking through the manual & no one else on any of these other blogs/sites/etc seem to know how to fix the issue either. does anyone here have any info on what to do about this problem?

thanks

No, but I was 100% going to buy a PSP-3000 and this thread has made me pause.

Can you post some pics or describe the issue in more detail?

I know that I, for one, wouldn't want to "upgrade" if thought I might find myself with shoddy video.

(Why can't Sony just engineer the PSP right for once? I'm tired of a good idea being weighed down by fundamental flaws that should have been addressed pre-production.)

if this made you jump, i looked more into it and there's a 21 page post about this issue over on the official playstation forums. apparently this is happening to a lot of people.

so far these 'lines' show up for me in the psp menu system.. you can vaguely see that the entire screen is covered with the lines & when you switch from menu to menu, all the moving objects get these lines going through them.

game-wise i've so far tried playing that Ratchet & Clank game and the lines are practically constantly around your character while you moving around (as well as moving objects in the background), and in Tekken 5 it's practically line city during combat.

no word on sony yet though if there's going to be a firmware fix or what.. aside from this i'm also upset because i traded in both of my old PSP's & even paid a bit of $ to get this new one that was supposed to be superior.

:(

Maybe because I jump from 1000 to 3000, I don't feel anything "wrong" with my PSP :)
I checked out the youtube video but I still have no idea about those horizontal lines..............

well i took the PSP back to gamestop. they gave me a hard time about returning it & eventually decided to test it out themselves. they confirmed the problem and let me exchange it for the Madden PSP bundle.

this sucks. i really wanted that new one to. :oh_no:

I was kind of annoyed when I heard they were bringing the 3000 out because I'd just bought a 2000 a couple months beforehand. I'm glad I got the 2000 now.

this is retarded. there shouldn't be any "interlace" issues with a natively progressive display and source. First time I've seen an LCD with these issues. Can you imagine buying a new LCD tv with a "faster response time" only to have scanlines as result. It would go straight back to the store.

Jesus! I'm glad I still have my PSP biggins, I have no idea what series that is, but it works well. I used to have all kinds of emulators in it when it was ver 1.5, but I had to upgrade and all because of Castlevania...well, no regrets there.

How bad is the ghosting on PSP-2000 really? I don't remember hearing anything about it before the PSP-3000 came out. Isn't the PSP-2000 still the best for non-hackers, not the 1000? The buttons are obviously better, and I thought the PSP-2000 screen was supposed to be better than the 1000 screen. That's what we were told when it came out, anyway. Don't remember complaints.

Not bad enough for me to notice, and I'm kind of picky about that kind of thing.

I've been using the 2000 since earlier this year, and was actually thinking of trading up to the 3000. Guess I'll pass. I'll take a little ghosting over heavily noticeable scanlines any day.

Not bad at all. I mostly only notice it when it's a solid color against a solid background (i.e., Loco Roco, Patapon). In most games, it's completely a non-issue.

I like a quote on the kotaku page, a guy says "theyll recall a game for the muslims, but won't recall defective systems for disgruntled fans.:hammer:

Man, it really sucks to hear about this screen issue. Never had a problem with my old (phat) PSPs, and I picked up a Slim a few weeks ago. Good timing, I guess.

LittleBigPlanet is the game they're talking about.

I may be the only one who feels this way, but I don't mind the new screen. I just wish they would make it scratch-resistant. I know that I've bitched about this a TON, but it IS possible to make scratch-resistant LCD screens fairly inexpensively; look at the iPhone, the DS lite, almost all laptops, etc. It's infuriating that they make the cases so poorly. At least the new one has a matte finish on the rest of the body, which makes it easier to grip.

The new mic is stupid, BTW. It's not sensitive enough, so you wind up sounding like you're on speaker phone. On Skype, that makes it even worse. They should have added Bluetooth headset capability instead, which only adds about $10 to the manufacturing cost.
