They should've just skipped the PSP Slim and added all of its features to this one. It would've seemed like a much bigger improvement than what we're getting.

Also, any word on changes in battery life or load times? Because this is a definite pass for me if not.

The only bit that actually interested me:
"which will allow new PSP users to enjoy games on non-progressive TVs."
Why wasn't this included from the start?

I was on the fence about the slim specifically because it lacked this feature. This will put the new model into "must buy" territory for me.

higher res is not as improtant to me as the screen being able to play games without the image drifting, like on shooters.

2000 above, 3000 below.

This photo pisses me off.

I bought my PSP-2000 a little while after they came out, and I have gotten a shitload of use out of it. However, that fucking photo highlighting the screen improvements makes me want another one so bad.

I think I will take this opportunity to buy a 3000 for my main gaming PSP, and then use my 2000 to mess around with emulation and homebrew. I've been wanting to do that forever.

Sony is just taking a page out of Nintendo's handbook. Redesigning the Gameboy allowed it to revitalize its sales over and over. Personally, I welcome the revs. I can understand purchasers of the 2000 being pissed off, but I welcome the continual improvement. The best strategy is to sit tight on your current PSP (whatever that is) until they make enough improvements for you to upgrade. I've got a phat, and there weren't enough improvements in the 2000 to make it worth my while. However, with the additions to the 3000 (mainly the higher refresh rate of the screen), I'll likely pick this model up.

I didn't hear anything about a higher refresh rate, just a higher contrast and reduced glare. Where did you get that information?

I ended up getting a 2000 for the d-pad improvements, I didn't really care about any of the other crap. Being that controls aren't improved, I don't see myself really caring about the 3000.

Well the Speakers are at the top so that would suggest that its going the same route as 2000.
