Someone had to try it. I broke down my slim and new psp 3000 to try and change the screens. everything was going well, until I realized sony decided to change the ribbon cable size that carries picture data to the screens:

slim on left, psp 3000 screen on right. Not sure if you can tell but the 3000's data cable is more compact. backlight connector is the same though

real shame, as the new screen eliminates ghosting completely. best test is to pop in ridge racer and watch the old school rally-x demo. You'll see track ghosting on the slim, and none on the 3000. so unless some tech geek busts out a solder gun and figures a connector swap. the screen isn't a drop in replacement. guess the 3000 will go on the shelf until DA can crack it.

oh yeah, the new screen isn't all it's cracked up to be. It suffers from some horrible interlace scan line tearing. I'm not sure if this is a software thing or what (3000 was made to work on analog sets, maybe that's a contributing factor?) no need to rush and buy one
