Thinking of picking up one of these because I want a Blu Ray player and to try games in 4K.

What's the PS4 Pro got going for it to justify $150 more?

Going on a Sony XBR 65" 850D

You should get a PC, you can still use controller's with it.

Neither looks particularly good to me. Spend half your gaming time updating your PS4 or miss out on a bunch of good games with Xbone.

Eh?
Dreamcast/PS2

360 was so obviously the victor in that generation, it Came out a year earlier than the PS3, was less beefy (from a hardware standpoint) and yet, it took the PS3 4+ years to finally out sell it.

Besides, uncharted was the first decent exclusive for it, and that was 2 and a half years into it's life (maybe even 3).

But nooo Sony did it before with better hardware, they can do it again. /s

And now we take you to a live look at LemonyVengeance...

Seriously though, the 360 crushed the PS3 by pretty much all accounts.

I wouldn't say that entirely. The 360 dominated the first half of the generation, easily. I remember all the "lol @ sony" jokes, I made several myself. However, about halfway through the console cycle Sony dropped the PS3 price to under $300, while MS decided to focus on the Kinect, which didn't gain much traction. After a year or two (this was a looong console cycle) I knew several people, myself included, that had switched to the PS3 as the primary system.

There was no clear winner between the two, MS dominated the first half of the generation, Sony dominated the second half. This was more akin to the 16 bit generation, where neither the SNES or the Genesis was the dominant system.

Who needs cooling huh? That's for snobs.

Even the cooler you could buy for the thing was a piece of garbage. My friends brother got one and it actually made the system run hotter because of how much power it drew.

I got a XB1s for Christmas, my cousin is the man!...it was bundled with Geerz ff wurr Fore. Funny how this gen has been dirty to me; First I get the PS4 and all I could find was the Khall of Dookies III, I traded the game for DOA5LR, and now XB1s... Whatevs, the system play awesome though. PS4 is awesome, wasn't planning on getting a XB1 at all but now that I have it, I'm playing Dark Souls with my elite pad and it's so much smoother than PTDE. I got me the elite pad solely for DS PTDE, no regrets, running and using the right stick without interruptions is the balls! Plus I programmed the other paddles to do sorceries and bow, I'm a freaking machine now!

I'm gonna agree with Moe, KI is a great game, I wasn't expecting it to be this good. Backwards compatibility is a huge plus for me, the xb1 pads are so much better than the 360 ones, i'm loving it right now.

I dunno much about this new gen but I'm happy with it. GGXRD, Resogun, SFV, MKXL, Caladrius Blaze, Raiden V, Darius CH, the list keeps going...I also love steam, however my computer is meh, with that in mind I'm real happy with the new gen consoles price point. I will pony up for a higher end computer sometime, PC is definitely the way to go, specially for the peripherals.

Talking about peripherals, I'm killing it with 2 T5HRAPS custom 6B CP with brooks inside, so I'm ready for everything!

Edit: also...I've been an XBL/PSN member for a while now, well before the new gen and I kept up with all the freebies, got newconsoles and was ready with games for them, of course not all freebies are created equal but its free! Enjoying BroForce like good hipster should...

I have a gaming PC, so that covers 99% of the XB1 games. Recently I picked up a PS4 slim. As I don't have a 4K TV and not in a rush to buy one since there's not really enough general content (non-games) to make it work buying to me. PS4 Pro not having Ultra Bluray? I haven't bought a physical movie disc in years. All digital. Save the space for your carts man.

For those that hate the Sony controllers FYI there's some 3rd part adapters to run XB controllers instead. I know i'm going to be hunting for one here soon for my elite.

??

I think the only thing I don't like about the ps4 controller is the options button is oddly placed. I tend to hit that TouchPad instead. Other than that, what complaints are there about it?

that was more of a general comment. Guys that used to play 360 a bunch have trouble with the stick placement on the PS3 and 4. My brother being one of them. Plus he LOVES the elite controller. So being able to use it on the PS4 is a big deal to him.

and yes, the option button pisses me off. I have to use it constantly for Destiny and it's shape and placement is just annoying.

If you do end up getting Killer Instinct, they now have a physical copy that basically has all the content released (was digital only before). $34...can't go wrong.

The controller is the best part of the Xbone. I'd like to get one for my PC.

The Wii won last generation. By a lot.

Unless you count handhelds, in which case it was
DS (154 million) > Wii (105 million) > 360/PS3/PSP (all three ended up between 81 and 86 million, and considering they came out in 3 different years at 3 different price points that's about as close as it gets)

It turned out to be a solid generation overall. I love all five main systems.

PS4. Has more exclusives and multiplatform games play better on it compared to the XB1. PC always wins in the multiplatform department though.

With Scorpio around the corner next year I'd either buy a PS4 Pro of go with the cheaper vanilla PS4.

Only reason to go with an XB1 over a PS4 is if you watch 4K blu-ray movies and care about the exclusives games on it (Forza, Gears, etc)
