So I was keeping my eye out for a cheap project when I spotted a Fixed Odds Betting Terminal for sale just up the road from me for £100 on ebay. It had been converted into a Mame cab so I offered him £75 and he accepted

Its started out like a red version of this

Somebody had painted it black, with the screen bezel 3 different shades of silver, glued on a plastic CP, stuck a cheap Mame PC in and sold it on for £650! So when I picked it up it looked like this

Got it home, gutted it and threw out all shit inside I didnt need! All I left was the power supply, the 31k screen and the 2 speakers. All the following went in the bin

Leaving me with this

8 cans of refrigerator paint later and we had

Thought I would colour the bezel differently so it would stand out more

Printed the Marquee off on photo paper

Bought a Sheet of steel from a DIY store for the new CP

It was too thivk for my jigsaw so I had to end up hacksawing it out and filing it down :lolz:

A guy off ebay printed out 2 sideart stickers for me for £10

I used some self adhesive vinyl to cover the CP and bought a few new buttons. Fortunately the sticks were Sanwa's anyway! Notice the custom dust guards :D
A sound amp, pad hack and VGA lead later and we have a nice new 360 cab to play Ikaruga, Blazblue and SSFIV on :buttrock:

Final Price

Cab - £75
Spray Paint - £55
Sideart and CPO - £11
Sheet of Steel for CP - £7
Buttons and Balltop - £20
Sound Amp - £7
Pad Hack - £30

Grand Total - £205 (Plus ive still got to actually buy SSFIV)

awesome.

looks great, makes me want to repaint some of mine.:buttrock:

i think all it needs is a different control panel overlay. if you could bring in the blue that you used for the bezel it would look great.

very nice. how long did it take you to cut out that CP. that sounded like the hardest part.

Anyone have a picture of what Super SF4 looks like in 3x4 VGA mode? I've wanted to put this in a cab, myself, but curious as to what it looks like, first.

Wow, fantastic job. Very nice and professional looking. Glad you were able to salvage that MAME cab. The second pic looked horrendous.

Dude I think I have a PC in the mATX case the computer in the cab is in. It's such a POS.

Nice work.

A single control stick & buttons in the middle just screams vertical shumps.

Very impressive work! Why only one controller if you don't mind me asking?

Cos 98% of the time I play cabs its by myself. I mainly play fighters and I can play online on KOF XII and SSFIV against other people. Its quite a small cab to fit 2 people on so it would be pretty uncomfortable sitting on the left corner playing alone. Much easier just to put 1 player in the middle of the screen.

Pretty cool little cab w/a nice paint job! I may have missed it, but what's the monitor size on it?

Would it be too much trouble to ask for several pics of this game running in VGA 4X3 mode? I would really like to see what it looks like.

In the game options you can set the HUD to be 'arcade style' - pushes the power & super bars to the corners more.

Excellent work! All you need now is some CP art and you're gonna be styling!

Im thinking of just getting a Capcom sticker for the right side of the CP to save me the hassle of unpopulating it all again
