Some of you may remember when I posted about this last year... Well, it is now getting ready for actual release sometime before July, and I'm taking direct preorders for the DIGITAL edition.

For those who are new to this, a 15-page preview can be seen here: http://www.heavy-weapon.com/
The preview has also been updated with freshly cleaned up inks for all 15 pages if anyone who saw the early version wants a refresher. These are still non-final pages since the grayscale shading still needs to be added, and professional lettering is being added as well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ABOUT THE BOOK
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heavy Weapon is the ultimate homage to 80's action movies in graphic novel form! You can excpect machine guns, muscles, action, one-liners and of course explosions!

PLOT SUMMARY:
Vietnam veteran, and former member of an elite Special Forces group, John Magnum, left the military due to the tragic loss of his entire battalion while under his command. Since then, he has been consumed with guilt over the deaths of his men. He just wants to live a normal life and forget his violent past...

...But now, his former Commanding Officer, Colonel Deckard, has tracked him down to inform him that a small group of POWs, captured during the war 10 years ago, have been found, and are being used as slave labor for a drug cartel in Costa Rica. Deckard asks Magnum to accompany him as an escort on a Top Secret mission to rescue the POWs, but Magnum refuses...

It's not his battle anymore.

Only a few days later, Magnum is approached by his old friend Richter, the only survivor of Magnum's lost battalion. Richter presents Magnum with a surprising video tape revealing that Deckard and his crew have been captured, and are being tortured then killed one-by-one at the hands of a ruthless drug lord. Before the tape ends, Colonel Deckard makes a plea for help from Magnum.

Magnum knows he can't let any more of his friends get killed and decides to go to Costa Rica to exact his revenge on everyone in his path on his mission to rescue Deckard, his team, and the POWs from the clutches of the heartless drug lord...

ORDERING
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Payment Options and Prices for regular PHYSICAL COPIES is coming soon.
I will begin taking direct preorders hopefully around March/April 2013 for the physical copies...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DIGITAL Preordering
Discounted preorder price - $2.25
This price is only good while I'm taking preorders.
Release dates are still TBA, but expected to be done in May 2013. Digital preorders will receive their copy of the book (the full story, without extras) in any/all 3 formats: CBR/CBZ/PDF and completely 100% DRM-free. You will get them FIRST, as soon as the book is complete. Same day. Digital preorders can only be done by Paypal, or money order (or cash at your own risk).

HOW TO PREORDER:
- For the Digital Version: Send me a PM offer for "Heavy Weapon DIGITAL Preorder" with you sending "$2.25 Paypal".
Provide me with your username, name, address, and Paypal email so I can keep track of who is who.
When making the payment, please leave all info default/blank, except putting your username in the subject
.

How will I receive the digital copy?
Your digital copy will be provided via a personal download link. I can email it to you or just PM you, your choice. All 3 formats will be zipped into a password-protected .ZIP file that can be downloaded directly.

After the preorder period ends, the DIGITAL version will be priced at $2.99 US, and you can still choose from three formats: CBR, CBZ, or PDF. If you would prefer the book in Amazon or ComiXology formats, you will have to purchase the book from them directly at a later time. This is only for direct orders from me, and the pricing is only for direct orders; purchasing from other places may have a different, but still affordable price.

I'm in. You have a PM.

I love the look of the Munition Edition, as well. It's definitely a collector's edition. I just hope it'll be under $50.

Looks rad. When's your projected release date?

The digital version should be ready by May. The physical copies, including the Munition Edition, sometime between May and July.

It will be $50 or under (not including shipping).

If you're referring to the Munition Edition. I would suggest preordering. Since only 250 will be made, there's a high chance there won't be any left by the time they're released. If you mean a standard paperback, or digital copy, then good on you...In that case, there should be plenty. :p ...but I wouldn't hold out on the ME. A $2.25 deposit guarantees you a copy, and you get the digital one early.

After speaking with all possible manufacturers, it looks like the Munition Edition will come out to $44.95 + shipping as the retail price.

The price covers all costs for:

Printing (casebound hardcover)
Ammo Box with Laser-Engraved Logo
USB Bullet with Exclusive Digital Extras
Dog Tags (2) + Chain
Challenge Coins (2)
A Cloth Map
Laminated 6x9 Art Print
Die Cut Bookmarks (Combat Knife & Dagger)

Obviously, none of this is final until I get the funding via preorders to produce 250 of these, but at least you now know what to expect, price-wise.

In which direction, insane? Cheap or expensive?

Because that's the price of the special edition that's limited to 250 pieces with all of the extras...the Digital is still going to be $2.99 (currently only $2.25 for preorders), and the Softcover will probably be like $5-$10, and the Standard Hardcover will likely be $10-$15.

Well, I'm selling them at cost to produce. The Munition Edition is pretty much non-profit. The markup is about the same as what I make on the digital after Paypal fees. And that $2 is pretty much going to cover packing and gas to the post office :p

I'll ship anywhere as long as actual shipping costs are covered... The box should be about 12" x 5" x 11" and around 6.5 lbs. According to the USPS that's gonna be like $50-$60 just for shipping :-o

You might be better off with just a digital copy or maybe just waiting it out for a softcover/hardcover standard edition without all the extra weight. But if you insist, I will definitely take your order if you don't mind paying insane shipping.

Thanks. Yeah, the biggest hurdle I have aside from advertising is convincing people that a homebrew graphic novel isn't stick figures and art by a 3yr old. I've been hearing from a handful of people who almost dismissed the project completely until they saw the 15-page preview.

It's hard to convince people to just read what I've got out there, and see it's not an amateur-level production.

Small updates:

I'll be placing my order of the die-cut bookmarks this week for the Munition Edition.

I'm revamping the website a little more too. Hoping to get the public online store open for preorders, and then maybe I can start advertising outside of like 5 forums.

Also, setting up the ComiXology version as well here soon. Looks like the price on the CX digital copy will probably be $3.99 since CX takes 50% of the profits, and that includes after the 30% cut iTunes takes. So, it costs more, and I make less, but then again, that's good advertising too.

The website has been revamped and updated. I still think the preorder "store" page could look better, but in general I'd like to get some impressions.

**PLEASE NOTE: If you've already made a preorder reservation via PM, no need to purchase a Munition Edition via the website unless you want to pay in full now.**
