Hey all,

I just put my Prehistoric Isle 2 MVS cart into my new 4 slot... it was in there with Panic Bomber, Neo Turf Masters, and Breakers Revenge. I turned on the attract sound and walked away. 10mins later I came back in the room and there was no sound coming from the MVS. I hit start on Panic Bomber and there was no sound in game. I turned off the MVS and turned back on. Sound was working again. I sat down and played a game of Prehistoric Isle 2... got to about level 5 and quit the game letting the timer run out. The game went back to title screen and then poof... no more sound. I played the game again, no sound. I turned the machine off and on one more time and PI2 was back to normal! This is stange since the game worked fine in my 2 slot board months ago (I did not really play it much, but I know it would not cut the sound out after one play!). It does not seem to like my current config however, whether it be the compatibility with the games or the 4 slot itself. I will put the game in by itself the next time I swap the games out... Just wanted to know if anyone could tell me if they have seen this/heard this/didn't hear this... or if someone could try to reproduce the problem.

4-Slot MVS board English
Panic Bomber slot 1
Neo Turf Masters slot 2
Breakers Revenge slot 3
Prehistoric Isle 2 slot 4

Oh I should add, yes I opened this cart up before and again today. It is a mint cart in excelent shape. All chips are original Toshiba no EPROMs or wires. All contacts are sparkling clean, all soldier points are nice and clean... and hell even the chips are nice and clean... so I can rule out a problem with the cart itself.

This could also be caused by the small board that plugs into the main board coming loose. The small board that the cart slides into.

I placed a NITD in PI2s place... one hour later the demo sound cut out and the sound was gone from the cab again! Now I was curious, what was causing it!!!

Well I put in PI2 by itself, had no problems... left it in for a few hours alone... worked fine. I then put in:

Sam Shodown 4
Captain Tomaday
Nightmare in the Dark
Prehistoric Isle 2

No longer had the sound problem!!! It has been over 12 hours and everything is still working fine... hmmm, so it must have been either Panic Bomber or Breakers Revenge that caused the problem. Interesting, thanks for the info on the top board too, but I don't think that is the case here Jeff.

It's funny you should mention this problem. I had a familar encounter with my 4-slot too. I think I remember what I had but I am not 100% sure Ninja Masters, Nightmare in the Dark, Mark of the Wolves, and KOF 2000. I turned it on and left it running.....then when I came back the sound wasn't working. I thought that was wierd and maybe it was a sound saver for the game. I presed start on the game and there was no sound for the game. Then I was puzzled. I turned it off and then on again. The sound was fine and everything worked fine. I left it alone again and the exact same thing happened. So What I did this time was, turn it off and then on and then I played it to see if it would happen while I played it. Well, it didn't and I played for a good hour or hour 1/2. It hasn't done it since either.....I don't get it.....thought I was the only one that experienced this with my 4-slot. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone with this......

hmmm, I wonder if it has to do with mixing GIGA and MEGA games? I figured it was a an error with the sound chips on board. Maybe bad data is being kept in RAM until it just errors out eventually. I have no idea... oh well, I will put the old combo in again in the future, it would be interesting to see if it still does it.
